SOURCE: Mustang GT 4.6 EVAP Canister Purge Valve Location?

You will need to remove the right front wheel & wheel well liner. The canister purge valve is behind the cover. It should have two tube going into the bottom and one on the side near the top.
You can fix it!

Purge valve solenoid canister located on a 2003 Ford Taurus code po457

  • Park the Taurus on a level surface, set the parking brake and turn off the engine. Chock the wheels.
  • Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Stand on the passenger's side and shine the flashlight along the firewall.
  • Look for a plastic cylindrical object about 2 inches high, mounted on the firewall near the right fender. This is the purge valve. You should see a thick black hose entering it from the driver's side of the unit.
  • The Ford Taurus canister purge control valve is a part of the evaporative emission control system, which keeps fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. Pressure inside the gas tank fluctuate due to fuel level, environmental conditions and driving style. The extra vapor is vented into a storage canister under the rear of the car, outside the fuel tank, and is fed into the purge control valve through a rubber hose. The power-train control module monitors fuel tank pressure through a tank pressure sensor. It opens the canister purge valve as necessary to keep this pressure within design limits.

Where is purge sensor located

There is no such thing , What code do you have if any ? There is a purge solenoid for the EVAP system ! evaporative emission system. An there is a vent solenoid , a fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor.
The evaporative emission (EVAP) control system limits fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. Fuel tank vapors are allowed to move from the fuel tank, due to pressure in the tank, through the vapor pipe, into the EVAP canister. Carbon in the canister absorbs and stores the fuel vapors. Excess pressure is vented through the vent line and EVAP vent valve to atmosphere. The EVAP canister stores the fuel vapors until the engine is able to use them. At an appropriate time, the control module will command the EVAP purge valve ON, open, allowing engine vacuum to be applied to the EVAP canister. With the EVAP vent valve OFF, open, fresh air will be drawn through the valve and vent line to the EVAP canister. Fresh air is drawn through the canister, pulling fuel vapors from the carbon. The air/fuel vapor mixture continues through the EVAP purge pipe and EVAP purge valve into the intake manifold to be consumed during normal combustion. The control module uses several tests to determine if the EVAP system is leaking.

Where is the fuel vapor purge valve located on a 2003 mustang gt

Look on the Fuel rail on the left and right side, there is usually a cap that looks like a valve cap or a tire. It will have a needle valve inside just like a tire valve, Beware, when you purge the fuel system, make sure the engine is not running or the key is on and make sure the engine is cool. It will spray fuel. Take a blunt end object and push down on the valve pin, be sure to cover your hand with a rag so it don't spray fuel in your face or on your skin. This should purge the fuel system. It may take a couple tries to get all the air out. Allow the fuel to disapate and dry up before you start the engine. This could cause a fire if there is raw fuel laying in the crevises of the engine. An air hose with a blow valve is helpful to dry up the fuel. Again, cover your face or wear safety glasses. I hope this is helpful, I own a 2003 mustang GT my self.

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse has a P0456 (sometime RD - pending) Evap small leak. Replacing gas cap did not solve. Is there a vapor canister purge valve/solenoid on this car?

There is a purge valve and solenoid on most cars I believe. The purge valve is usally located by the engine and the selenoid is usally located by the fuel tank. Call up or go visit your dealer and you will be able to order the parts from them and they can tell you the exact location.

Ford escort wagon 1997 code p1443 displayed. what does this indicate & where is the cannister? thank you.

P1443 - EVAP Control System / Vacuum System Purge Control Solenoid Or Purge Control Valve Fault. A fuel tank pressure change greater than minus (-) 7 inches of water in 30 seconds occurred with a purge (fuel vapor) flow at less than 0.02 pounds per minute.

Possible Causes:
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the FTP sensor.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between the EVAP canister purge valve and the engine intake manifold.
  • Blocked vacuum hose between the EVAP canister purge valve solenoid and the engine intake manifold.
  • EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed (mechanically).

  • Possible Solution:
Check for blockages between the fuel tank, the EVAP canister purge valve, and the engine intake manifold. Check for obstructions in the EVAP canister purge valve diaphragm and ports.

The canister is on the passengers side near the firewall if I recall correctly.

    2003 chevy cavalier p440 code

This indicates that a part of the EVAP control system is no longer fuctioning correctly. The EVAP system consists of alot of parts, including the gas cap, fuel lines, carbon canister, purge valve, and other hoses. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicles fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engin

heres some things you can try
    Remove and reinstall

the gas cap, clear the code, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses
Inspect for damaged or disconnected hoses around the Evap purge solenoid
    Check and/or replace the sensor
Check and/or replace the purge valve
Have a professional use a smoke machine to detect leaks
