We done change the timing belt how come the idle is too rough

Was the idle rough before you changed the timing belt? If yes, check for other conditions such as a stuck fuel injector or ignition system issues. If no, the timing marks weren't properly aligned when you put the new timing belt on, and you're off by a tooth or more.

SOURCE: Rough idle

Check O2 sensor and MAF sensor.

The best thing to do is scanning car computer with OBD II reader, that will tell you what is wrong.

SOURCE: changed timing belt after breaking now car idles

If the timing marks are aligned properly and you rechecked the timing. Check that a vacuum line didn't fall off. After a belt replacement always recheck the ignition timing it will change. But if it ran smooth before timing or a line is off.

SOURCE: rough idle after timing belt change what can it

if over 80,000 miles it could be exhaust system or catalytic converter. If it has been idling rough since you got the belt changed, I would contact the mechanic and just ask. Are the rpm's moving up and down or at all?

Could intermittent idle on 1998 toyota avalon be caused by timing belt install

Yes Sounds like the crank and cam are not in sync. If you have both a Crank sensor and a Cam sensor, a better testing machine should be able to read the position and tell you whether each is in the proper position. If this can not be done electronically, then it must be done manually with disassembly.

It's possible that your timing belt is installed one notch off and is idling rough because the cam is too far advanced. There is no such thing as a tune up on cars made after the 1990's. The only tune up items left on the later vehicles are sparkplugs and plug wires; everything else,e.g., fuel mixture, spark timing etc. are controlled by the computer.

it could be a broken or unhooked vacum line but i really am gonna go with the timing being out a couple of teeth it thats the case the car would idle rough and and stumble plus lack a bit of power on take off. if the timing is off the comptuer will compasate for that and advance the firing on the coil the comp uses a few different sencer's to determine when to fire it uses the cam shaft postion scencer and the crankshaft scencer you should have the timing rechecked by a different shop and see what they say for sure but be suer to tell them that you work done on the vechile.

It's unlikely that the cam belt would cause rough idle!!
normally you would change the cambelt after so many miles Mine are always changed after 30k miles regardless. The mechanic was purley guessing.

If the idle is rough then it will be an electronic fault like air flow meter,EGR valve, Idle control unit. etc

Get back to me if you need more info.

Rough idle, dies when trying to give it gas

it'll either be your ignition system (spark plugs, distributor cap, etc) or more likely your fuel system (most likely your fuel pump or your fuel filter)
