Had similar problem when keys accidently locked in trunk.Solved by drilling 1 inch circular cutout (series of small drill holes) behind number plate above lock. Lock operating bar then visible. Lock released using long nosed plyers. Note.. release button on lid failed to operate as by coincidence wiring loom failed where it passes trunk hinge ! Hole re-sealed and number plate replaced. I had vallet key but this dosnt open trunk. Hope this helps Pete

What options do I have in gaining access to the trunk of my 2004 jaguar xj8 that has gone into valet lockout

all back seats are either screwed down or hooked in. you need to use a little muscle and lift up your back seat to see which is which. there is no other way to gain entry to your trunk.Trust me Ive locked my keys in my trunk too. Now i have a hidden spare to my door and trunk. GOOD LUCK

Locked out of trunk

If the electric release button and the key do not work, you may have to remove the back seat and try to gain entry that way.

Hi how can i release the valet on a 1995 xj6 jag, cause i cant open my trunk

The valet button is in the center console. You can also use the manual key (the black one) in the back key holder (located in the XJ6 label on the trunk), that will overide the electrical lock and you can open manually.

Good luck!

JAGUAR XJ6 95 TRUNK WONT OPEN BATTERY IS FINE I TRIED WITH THE KEY THE BUTTON IN THE TRUNK AND THE BUTTON IN THE DASHBOARD AND NON OF THEM WORK

My suggestion would be to open your glove compartment and pushing the valet button to release the locking mechanism for your trunk which would cause everything else not to work.

I can nit open my trunk on my 1996 jAGUAR XJ6.

ok, if the key won't open this then the lock is jammed and if you don't want to damage anything, I know I wouldn't, I would take it to a mechanic. The jammed may have been what killed your battery if the valet trunk open was not working it may have been shorted out. There is a way to jump vehicles with the battery in the trunk like that but I am not familiar with it and if the buttin doesn't work to release the trunk it would do you no good anyway. most likely you are looking at replacing teh truck locking mechanism.

I need to find the release for the trunk on a 1997 xj6. My dad wanted to find out what would happen if he pressed the valet button in the car, turns out it locks the boot! As he is a very intelligent being...

The black headed key (or integrated key) or the key transmitter should open the 'boot' after the valet button has been pressed, according to the manual. If the transmitter is pressed 15x (or more) within 20 seconds, it activates a 20 second waiting period before it will work, but the black headed (or integrated) key should still work. Please don't say the transmitter and the black key are in the boot! Let me know if you get in!

1997 bmw convertable trunk will not open

I vaguely recall reading something in the owners manual of my '97 328 regarding the trunk and the master key. Something about locking things with the master key so that valets cannot open your trunk with the valet key.
Try unlocking the driver door or the trunk with the master key (the original key that had the LED flashlight in it.

I have a 95 Jag xj6 and my trunk release button nor the key will open the trunk. I thought the valet switch in the arm rest had been activated but the main key wont deactivate it. Any suggestions or is...

We're working on our friends 95 Jag. He took it to a local shop and the gomer calling himself a mechanic started pushing buttons on the console. He pushed the top down button while the top was still connected. The rear windows thought the top was supposed to go down so they started rolling down. They stopped them about halfway down, but couldn't get them back up. But that isn't the problem. Now, we can't get the trunk open. The problem? The trunk is not the original. It came from a junkyard and he has never had a key. So the remote only works on the doors. How in the world do we get that trunk open. Our only thought is to go through the back seat, and that looks like way too much work. Any ideas?

My key won't open the trunk of my car. Jaguar XJ6

May not be the answer but something I just learned. I was handed the "key" to my aunt's XJ6 and she asked me to clean it up for her,,, but what I found was that the "key" she handed me was the VALET key and would not open the trunk. I had to go back and get the other key from her. The VALET key was green while the masters that open all are black.
