My 2000 suzuki vitara 2.0 overheated due to a bed radiator. After replacing the radiator, I can't get it to start back up. Yes , water did get every where. What do i need to do to get it to start?

Also there is smoke coming out of the tailpipe now that wasn't there before it over heated. I did replace the radiator and thermostat. What else should I do to get this to start again. Oh yay, I was able to get it to start once and the longer it ran the rougher it would run. Then I turned it off and now I can't get it to start again.

Have a compression test done as I think that you have a head gasket or cracked head problem.

SOURCE: 96 suzuki vitara - radiator empties but no visible leak

Check the passanger side floor board for moisture this could indicate a bad heater core. Then I would check the engine oil and make sure its not milky looking (head gasket). make sure when you fill it let it run with the cap open with you looking into the cap to be sure is circulating and not vapor locked (air pocket)
hope this helps

SOURCE: vitara overheat

When driving down highway only, it overheats? When running steady, I take it you mean, sitting idling? If it's only overheating at highway speeds, and all else has been checked out & is o.k., I'd take a close look at rad hoses for soft spots (easy to squeeze) that may be causing hoses to collapse at highway speeds & restricting flow of cooling system. Another thing to try is, turn your heater on high fan & high temperature when it starts to heat up & see if temperature gauge goes down (cooler) at all. If it does, then rad not doing it's job properly.

SOURCE: Water pump

Hello nedy...if you have the V6 engine, it will require the removal of the timing chain cover to access the water pump. The water pump is mounted to the engine block with 4 bolts. It is recommended that the bolts be replaced due to electrolysis (steel bolt in aluminum block) Replace all gaskets and o-ring seals as well.
While you are in there, you can inspect the timing chains, it has 3..and the chain tensioners. A Haynes repair manual would be helpful on this project and will have the correct torque specs.
Good luck...i hope this helps, please rate mr a fixya.

2008 grand vitara had radoator hose collapsed

Hoses collapsed when water could not be drawn back into cooling system from over flow tank. There has to be an obstruction preventing water to flow back into radiator when car cools down.

Can u put carquest antifreeze in a 2006 Suzuki grand vitara the jeep is overheating at time

Yes you can use Car Quest Anti-Freeze in your Suzuki. I would first flush the radiator and heater core and replace the Thermostat as well. It is also a good time to replace the Radiator cap as they wear out as well. I would also recommend getting your cooling system Pressure Tested before doing anything so you know you do not have a blown head gasket.

Overheating and losing coolant fluid

In my parts book it calls for a 16lb cap.
You may have damaged the head gasket before the radiator was replaced. Once an engine overheats, the gasket can be stretched and the head warped. The engine could be burning the coolant.

I have a 2000 suzuki Vitara I can drive a long distance but when I stop it wont start up like it out of gas, and one day I drove to get gas i fill up and started to take off and it stop like I ran out of...

(if engine is good, not overheated )
its only 1 of 2 things.
lost spark (do a spark test using , yes, a test good spark plug)
if spark is good on all cyl
then check fueling, if spark plugs not soaked in fuel (tips)
then try test fuel.
if soaked, the op guide says, hold throttle fully open (depressed 100%) this cuts INJECTIONS 100% and you start a flooding motor)

I have a suzuki vitara 1600 year 2000. I have a loss of anti-freeze from the expantion tank that drains my radiator ,i have looked for external leakage and canot see any. Also the temperature gauge is slow...

I would be checking out that thermostat and maybe a tighter radiator cap. Not too tight. They come in pounds, get one or two more lbs on there, and keep an eye on that temp gauge. Check for steam out the exhaust and water in the oil. Just to be safe. Hope this helps.

Install a new radiator "1999 Suzuki Vitara

Yes you need to remove the fan. I believe the fan is bolted by 10mm small bolts to the top of your radiator. Remove your transmission lines, drain the radiator, remove the hoses and overflow hose, unplug the fan, remove it, and you're left with the 2 brackets on the front crossmember on both sides of your hood latch. Remove the 2 brackets and your radiator should lift right out
Good luck!
