it should be the 4l60e , i believe the c-series were the heavy duty models with the larger rear axle and the 4l80e tranny. but to be certain , it's stamped on the passenger side i believe , towards the front (on the bell-housing or right behind on the gear box but definately on the pass. side. note: you may have to remove the heat shield in order to see it . it's that little cover ( held by 2 small 10mm bolts ) that reflect the heat from the catylitic convertor but its simple...

SOURCE: fuel gauge stuck on half full

I can tell you almost for certain your fuel level sending unit is bad, I have been able to fix them though. It requires removing the gas tank and then the fuel pump. You can if your inclined, bend the brushes on the small circuit board over more so they will make better contact on to it. Other wise its a new fuel pump assembly, check all plugs and wiring by unpluging and repluging them to insure no bad connect. It is possible it could be the guage itself, but in thirty years of fixing cars never had a bad guage

SOURCE: what is the code and where do I find it for a 1999 K1500 4x4

what code ?? for what if it is for radio then for the 99 chevy just turn on ignition and then press buttons 2 & 3 together write down three digit code. then press am/fm and write next three digits and give me the six digit code and I can then get you your 4 digit unlock code. the tow haul button on the shift selector I am guessing isn't working??? this is common and you will find a broken wire in the column right at the bottom of the shifter arm.

SOURCE: 1998 k1500 5.7l 105a alternator. replaced

At idle the alt shows 12.5 ?
How about at 2000 RPM....does the voltage rise with increased engine speed?
If no increase in voltage with higher RPM........the alternator may be defective.
Remember....if battery is low and you add the load of all accessories the voltage may be low at idle speed until the battery is charged up.....this would be normal under this condition. Once the battery is charged the alt can handle the load of the accessories at idle and should be able to keep voltage up.
Also......a defective battery could be taking all the alt has got to give.....resulting in a low voltage reading.
We would like to see approx 14.5 volts when vehicle is running.

Alt gauge reads low

This sounds like the alt is not charging, but a eak battery will also cause this condition, what you can do is have the charging system tested. if you have a volt meter you can connect it to the battery with engine running and acc off you should have 13.5-15 volts, this is a good alternator, then turn on all acc and check it, it may have a low reading but should atleast go to 13volts and then when you rev it up it should go to 13.5 - 14.7. if the readings are low replace alternator.

1994 gmc sonoma with alternator putting out 11.7 volts no matter what you have on. New battery and rebuilt alternator. What else could cause this low voltage situation. The battery and abs lights are on.

Try checking the gauge inside the truck
If it reads wrong - not to worry - just carry on as it is.

Try turning everything on - then CAREFULLY remove the NEGATIVE battery cable - if the truck continues to run WELL - the problem is most likely the gauge.

Check it the local battery store - free.

I HAVE A 2003 TRAILBLAZER IM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CHARGING SYSTEM,I CHANGE THE ALTERNATOR BUT IT STILL SHOW THE BATTERY GAUGE LOW CHARGE NEED HELP ON WHAT TO DO

You need to check the voltage at the battery itself, if the battery voltage is indicating in the area of 12.5 - 14.0 volts and your dash gauge does not agree, then the dash cluster has a bad stepper motor which drives the gauge.
If the battery voltage agrees with the dash gauge, and the alternator was changed and is assumed good, you need to check the wires going to the alternator, there may a broken connection.

Ford f150 pickup not charging

the gauge is going bad or a bad connection to the gauge! a sure way to find out is put a meter on the alt. and the battery when the gauge reads low and see what the actual volts are and if there high 13's and low 14vdc then you know the alt. is doing it's job and the gauge is bad! good luck
