I have a 2003 savannah 3500 cutaway 10' box truck (6.0) that I bought from U-haul. I have it a year now with no problems. Today I started it up after a job and the check engine light was flashing, the idle was rough, and i had almost no power. So I turn it off and restart it, and it runs fine until the next time I turn it off. Start it up again and same problem. Turn it off and on a few times and finally it runs fine again until next time I turn it off. Then twice when I tried to drive it with no power and the check engine light flashing after a little bit the power came back and the check engine light stopped flashing but stayed on steady. I also noticed the occasional popping sound coming from under the truck then the truck had no power. I was able to limp it home today, but I won't drive it tomorrow until I take it to a mechanic. I'm just wondering what it could be so I have a rough idea of the possibilities when I take it there. Any thoughts?

try changing the fuel filter first. If that doesn't help, get back to me.
have you checked out your fuel filter? I had my 2003 denali do the same type of problem and it turned out to be a very dirty fuel filter.
SOURCE: 91 Dodge ram 50 ignition problem, rough idle in drive, dies when braking
my ram 50 starts just like any other vehicle, (no light switch pulling whatso ever), it sounds like somebody haas rewired something wrong or you have a loose connection and when you hit a large enough bump it cuts your power. Start it up and find a speed bump somewhere and drive over it enough to give your truck a jolt and see if it dies.

connect a vacuum guage to the intake port and,
look for a cracked or, broken vacuum fitting or, line your engine is occasionally getting too much air this causes it to over rev.
