I wired my front fog lights on my escort van using the rear fog lamp switch u change the actual switch to the double switch(front an rear fog switch) if you buy this off a scrap car you cut the wiring and connect rear fog plug to bottom of switch and connect front fog wiring to the top plug.

SOURCE: 1st time install of OEM fog lights into a 1999 Mercury Cougar?

Look under the dash near where the headlamp switch mounts and if yours is equipped you should see I think it is a blue 4 pin connector with the following wire colors OG,OG/WH,OG/GN,BK.
This is for the fog lamp relay. If yours has this connector then you will need to purchase a relay ford part number F6RZ-14N089-AA should list for about $10.

SOURCE: Wiring for Bosch Hologen Fog Lights? Wiring

Look on the relay for the terminal numbers.
Terminal 30 goes to the battery positive.Red Wire
The two terminal 87 go to the fog lights.Black Wires
Match the color wire with what you have on the relay connection for the rest of the wires.
Terminal 86 should connect to your low beam headlight.
Terminal 85 should go to the fog light switch.
The fog light switch should connect to the terminal 85 and the other terminal on the switch will connect to ground.

97 grand cherokee limited power windows mirrors and locks wont work but passanger side will go up using that side control

  • If you open the drivers door and take notice of that harness that stretches between the door frame and the door. If their is a boot slide it to one side and then the other side and if their is no boot slice the harness open lengthwise.

  • What your looking at is the wires in that harness. Them wires are the power feed (and ground) for the different electronics inside the cabin ie door lock, chimes, windows, dome lights, etc. Look for split, pinched, bulging, rusted wires or wires with negated insulation. Splice a new wire into the area where the wire[s] are broke off and re-insulate.

  • This is a common problem with most vehicles across the board. Over time, due to placement of the harness, the wires begin to crack and dry out and get pinched. Broken wires is almost always the problem with a problem such as yours.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Hello, I want to put heated mirrors on my 1997 chevy tahoe and want to know if I can piggy back off the rear defrost switch. The elements pull 3.8 amps for total. There is the convenience center located...

Yes, you can grab power from the rear defog at the switch or the power wire under the dash at relay for mirrors, most of these trucks come prewired, so if its an option they just add heated mirrors, the wires are all in place on the newer one, check yours and see, the only thing you would need if prewired is the switch and the mirrors.this being a 97 might not be prewired but like you said you can wire it, you have the right idea this way the mirror work when the defrost is on, i will see if i can give you a wiring diagram of the rear defrost. hope this helps.johnjohn2_29.gif

How do i wire up a tow bar electrics ?

Obtain a tow wire harness. Then tap into the existing wires on your vehicle, if it is not prewired for towing. If it is prewired, you will notice a bundle of wires near the rear of your vehicle. Attach these to your tow wire harness and then to your tow hitch.

Fog light indicator (i dont have fog lights)

You likely have a pinched wire in your harness somewhere.
Those cars are prewired for Fogs whether you have them or not. If the wiring is pinched with another wire that carries current, it will backfeed through the system illuminating the fog indicator light.
That light does not normally have power with the key off, so knowing that it stays on with the key off, there is little other possibility other than a damaged section of wiring.
Take it back to the repair shop quickly so you can have a insurance supplement claimed.

Fog lamps won't turn on

OK, you will need to first check the fog light wiring harness. make sure there are no worn wire lines or connections, replace if you see noticeable flaws in the wiring harness. Next, check the clip that fits over the back side of the fog light bulbs. Make sure that the inside copper pins are in good condition and, the the fit is tight. replace the wiring harness if these clips are worn or not fitting properly.

If the above inspections show no apparent wiring harness issues, you will then need to check for bulb failure. make sure that your fog light bulbs are operational. if the bulbs are ok, replace the switch.

Please rata and have a great day:)

Fog lights

hi from uk the fog lghts? i assume front fog lamps ? the head lights have to be on dipped beam then the fogs will also work but in uk this is so as to prevent fogs only being used (blinding oncoming traffic ) if weather conditions req fogs to be used for poor visibility ? then the side/tail and h/lights must also be on like wise the rear fog light/s operate the same way hope this helps and makes perfect sense ?? all above is assuming bulbs have been checked and fuse/relay and power to each lamp ?
