Most vehicle has 1 o2 sensor but some do have 2.most o2 sensors are located near the manifold or near the beginning of the exhaust pipe.

SOURCE: P0340 code in my Jeep Liberty 2002

Since a P0340 Could be either the Cam Position Sensor or The Crank Position Sensor they are obviously in 2 different spots, however they both either sit on the back of the engine or on the transmission bellhousing. Your Cam Sensor is at the top and your Crank Sensor is near the bottom.

Hope this gives you some direction. Thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

SOURCE: 2002 Jeep Liberty P0174 code and mech has changed the o2 sensor

Can't tell you exactly what is wrong but the one thing you said is of concern...Map sensor should not be full of oil. If it is, I'd want to know why. In finding the reason for that, you may also find the reason why you are having a problem.
Jeep uses two kinds of engine crank venting. you either have a pcv valve or an orifice controlled system. If either are obstructed it can overpressure the crankcase and cause all kinds of problems.
Years of experience tells me this isn't something I can guess at and be 100% sure I have the right answer but based on what you said, I'd look there first!

What fuse needs to be replaced for 2/1 O2 sensor on 2005 jeep liberty?

there is no fuse for the O2 sensors. The PCM supplies power to the heater and the sensor.

Is there a trouble code that indicated there is a problem with that sensor?

2002 jeep liberty 3.7 engine where is knock sensor located and can the knock sensor cause it not to start.

get the pcm computer checked first for errors.
The 2 knock sensors are bolted into the cylinder block under the intake manifold. The sensors are used only with the 3.7L engine.

2002 jeep liberty speed sensor

Jeep Liberty 2002 woahs !
by porth21 - 2/1/09 7:35 AM In reply to: Jeep Liberty 2002 speedometer not working by Dannywon
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited with the same problem. The main problem I have found to be the routing of the speed sensor wires located on the rear difrential. They are 2 blue wires on my jeep and probably the same on yours. The problem is that they rub on the E-brake cable and once the wire is exposed they short and the speedometer and any other options running off they speed sensor quit working and that includes the tranny shift points and can cause the torque converter to not unlock and cause stalls. I am having the same problem for the third time and chrysler and jeep are both aware of the problem and unwilling to repair the problem or post a recall.
