I was driving to work and start hearing a winding noise when i press the gas to accelerate. I made it to work, but on my way home it was still doing it but this time it stopped accelerating like it was in gear. Even when I put it in reverse it just made a winding sound but would not accelerate. I finally turned off and started again and it started to move but still hearing the sound I drove about a quarter of a mile or less and it stopped accelerating again and just made a winding noise when I hit the gas. I'm thinking transmission but I pray that its not, any suggestions.
SOURCE: Stalling
Possibly faulty ignition module is the problem, stalls when engine is hot when you sit for a while it cools off and runs again until it heats up again, those are usually the symptoms of a bad ignition module and after a while it may give out all together and not run at all, usually if the module is at fault it shuts down the fuel pump so the engine don't load up with fuel, do to when engine continuously cranks over the injectors never stop squirting fuel and flood the engine do to lack of spark which is produced by the module, this could possibly be your problem.

you could check the fuel pump i recently had some problems with my punp after i replaced it where i would get to 3k rpms and it would sorta shut down and wouldnt go past it untill i let off the pedal
SOURCE: transmission - no reverse
i had to put a new trans in my 2000 jimmy about a year ago there is something inside called a "reverse hub" its made from aluminum and not very hard to break..when mine broke i was stuck trying to move in reverse and it heard a pop then a winding down noise and sure enough its the reverse hub to fix it i just had the trans rebuilt

It sounds as if your alternator may have gone out. If you take the Yukon by an autoparts shop (Checker, Autozone, etc.), they can run a quick charging system test for you. Good luck!

check for vacuum leaks at throttle body gasket. pvc valve stuck open.if all is good .change fuel filter .if still stall out check fuel pump pressure.if all is good .replace plugs and wires if they have not been changed.
