Don't laugh...but have you a) turned the volume right down. b) hit the 'mute' tab. c) tuned to a channel d) made sure antenna is up ? now it gets interesting e) checked the amp fuse inside the device f) checked the connectors from the speakers.......now the good bit.... wiggle the ignition key gently while engine running also gently pushing key in further.... it happened to my standard original 2001 lim ed still does, the wires cross inside . when engine on and radio going, it cuts out, sometimes just the display, sometimes whole thing blanks out.. comes back on when I tap key in. weird but true. sounds like amp fuse blown (right inside radio itself) Red

check battery and charging system

Mine did this. We replaced the battery but still nothing. I followed the cable that goes from the battery to the starter and shook it around a bit. It started up, but I also have an unrelated stalling problem.

I just took my 2001 Lexus ES300 key apart and the battery is a CR1616 3V

Turn the key to position ONE (turn one position from where the key is inserted). The radio should be left on. Make sure the a/c blower is in the off position. There should be no dash lights on. It should reset somewhere between two to eight hours. After at least two hours it should read CODE again.

If you cut the power, or the battery goes dead it won't reset.

go buy a new radio. You can usually get free installation. If you are a do it yourselfer. Then go to crutchfields web site. They are great, they give you the adaptor plates and wire harness to go from what ever radio you get to the car, with no splicing (cutting and reconnecting of wires) They will tell you what radios will not work and tell you what ones will.

Sorry to say it but you have power to the radio, and there are really 3 things a radio needs to work. power, speakers, and a signal. you can check the antena to make sure its not broken or disconnected. but most of the times its the radio
