Opening jammed boot - 2000 BMW 3 Series

Lock jammed or super-glue has been put into it, the only way is to remove back seat, after you are in boot open lock with screwdriver. If this is American boot under the car and a long screwdriver to release catch.

Hi there the lock on the boot has a tendency to jam if its bot greased on a regular basis you will need to gain entry from the front to get into the boot and remove the plastic panel from the boot door from there you should be able to open the boot
spray lots of spray grease down there and it should solve your problem.

To open the boot from the inside is very simple: Pull down the back seat. You will see a dull metal hook on top in the small space between the lock on the boot and the plastic cover of the boot. Push upwards and the door will open. The panel covering the back door is held in with clips and can be easily removed by pulling away from the wipr first and pulling the rest away clip by clip: You will not break anything no matter how hard you pull. To put the panel back on just push the clips back in to place.

check and see if you have a passthru rear seat(for skis and such) there should be a manual release handle in trunk- pull it- if it still will not open- lock assembly is jammed

My passat boot lock does the same because someone forced the lock one night, i replaced the lock barrel but from time to time the white plastic acctuator or pump if you want to call it that jams in the open position and needs a small tap with the boot lining removed to free it up.A replacement is only £23(U.K pounds) or just spay a little lubricant in the mechanism to free up the mostly dry plastic parts.

not a solution, but exactly the same happened to me this morning. Boot motor jammed partly open and both number plate lights came up as not working on computer, very odd as all worked perfect yesterday. Did you fix yours? Thanks

You can use your ignition key to open the boot, it has a key hole on or under the boot chrome trim

Are the skrews not loose on the other part of the lock inside the boot.?

no you have to remove the panel in the boot from the inside then you can get in
