SOURCE: 2009 chevy tahoe RAP is

{: ) If your vehicle is equipped with a DIC button, try to press on the button if the lights goes off. Or better yet, remove the connector of the DIC button. If the problem is eliminated, then you may need to replace the DIC button.
Another possible cause is when there are issues with the driver door and the body control module (BCM). The only door that can turn off the radio during RAP is the driver's door. It's possible the door is not giving the proper signals to the BCM. Or it could be the BCM is at fault, some stuck up internal relays or a software issue.
In this case, a scan tool can effectively monitor all these inputs, and eventually speed up diagnosis and make the necessary recommendations.

{: ) If you are referring to the IPC message screens going blank, and the gages and warning indicators seem to be working normally, the problem is not the fuse but an IPC internal circuit fault.. So better be ready for a new one. A replacement IPC will be that of later model versions. It will be programmed to your vehicle, and the mileage record will be reset to zero.

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Before calibrating the compass, make sure the compass is set to the variance zone in which the vehicle is travelling. See Compass Magnetic Variation Adjustment below.
  3. Press the vehicle information button until the PRESS TO CALIBRATE COMPASS screen is displayed.
  4. Press the set/reset button to start the compass calibration.

2006 Expedition overhead compass reads "N" when heading "E". Wonder how to reset it so it indicates the direction accurately.

Yes. Wish I could tell you which button for sure, but to reprogram the Compass you hold one of the buttons and drive in a circle one or two times to reacquire your position.

Calibrating compass

Yes you can. What you have to do is press the mode button on the driver info center(DIC).Press and hold the set button for 3 seconds. The DIC will display the zone. This is what part of the country you live in.What state your in.I don`t know what Zone your in so I don`t know if it is in the correct zone or not. They go from i-15.This will determine how accurate your compass will be.If you press set it will change the zones. If it is the correct zone then press the mode set button til the DIC displays calibrate compass.Press set and the DIC will tell you to drive in circles.Find a large empty parking lot to do this.I just crank the steering wheel and keep going in circles. The DIC will say calibrating. When the compass shows direction and temperature it is done calibrating and you can stop driving in circles.Hope this helps.Good luck.If you need to know what Zone your in Just post back with the state you live in and I can tell you the zone.

I have 2002 Yukpn Denali XL. There is a OC code that appears in the rear view. What is the cause of this and how can I fix it?

The "OC" indicates your compass is "Out of Calibration". Below is the proceedure to recalibrate your compass.

Compass Calibration
The compass may need calibration if:
After five seconds, the display does not show a
compass heading (N for North, for example), there
may be a strong magnetic field interfering with the
compass. Such interference may be caused by a
magnetic antenna mount, magnetic note pad holder
or a similar magnetic item.
The compass does not display the correct heading
and the compass zone variance is set correctly.
In order to calibrate, the letters CAL must be displayed
in the mirror compass windows. If CAL is not
displayed, push in the COMP button for approximately
eight seconds or until the letters CAL are displayed.
The compass can be calibrated in one of two ways:
Drive the vehicle in circles at 5 mph (8 km/h) or less
until the display reads a direction, or
drive the vehicle on your everyday routine and after
several turns the compass will become calibrated and
will display a direction.

Good luck.

DIC doesn't work

Are you talking about the one in the roof console, near the windshield?
With the key OFF:
Depress and hold the MODE and the ENGLISH/METRIC buttons.
With these two buttons still depressed, turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

When you do this all display segments will light for 2 seconds then off for 2 seconds, then it should show "PS" then turn off. After this, then unit may show E1, E2, E3 or E4. If E and a number (E1) didn't come up, then there are no errors in the System.

Turn the van off, then....to set the compass, find your location on the map picture. The number you fall under is your zone number.

Turn the ignition ON.

Cycle the driver information center (DIC) to the Compass/Temperature mode.
Press both the E/M and the MODE buttons for approximately 5 seconds.
The last entered variance zone number will be displayed.

Press the E/M button until the proper variance number (See picture) is showing.
Press the MODE button in order to set the new variance zone and resume normal operation.

Note: The features are controlled by outside data. The only feature that is self contained in the unit is the compass, and if it is not working correctly, then the unit is malfunctioning and I would suggest replacing it with a new one.

Perform these steps on more time. If it still does not work right, then the unit will need to be replaced.

Turn the ignition ON.
Cycle the driver information center (DIC) to the Compass/Temperature mode.
Press both the E/M and the MODE buttons for at least 10 seconds until the calibration symbol appears.
Release both buttons once the calibration symbol appears.
Complete 3 360° turns in an area free from large metal objects.

But I would wait before replacing it. Drive it around normal for a day first. If it nothing happens then, then replace it. The compass will not always calibrate right away.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Temp sensor and compass not displaying on my 2003 yukon xl

Yes. Look in the Fuse Panel inside the Truck. Use a Good Maglight or LED Flashlight and Hold it Behind the Fuses to see the Blown Ones. It is usually in an AUX Outlet. Also check thr Fuse Relay Box under the Hood for a Blown Fuse using the Same Method. See if there is a Relay for this also. If so, Replace it. Let me know if you need any more Help! Compass out of whack

You need to recalibrate the compass. The procedure is in your owners manual. Here are the basic steps.

First, you will need to verify that your compass zone is set to your current geographic location. Since I do not know where you are located, I cannot tell you the code. They are listed in the manual. (For example, So Cal is zone 5.)

Second, here is the compass calibration adjustment procedure:

Perform this adjustment in an open area free from steel structures and high voltage lines. For optimum calibration, turn off all electrical accessories (heater/air conditioning, wipers, etc.) and make sure all vehicle doors are shut.
1. Start the vehicle.
2. To enter the compass calibration mode, press and hold the button for greater than eight seconds. The display will then show CAL in the display window.
3. Drive the vehicle slowly (less than 3 mph) in circles until CAL indicator turns off. As many as 5 complete circles may be required.
4. The compass is now calibrated.
