The interior control switch top is obviously dead when pressed; the bottom of the switch (when pressed) moves the roof back and forth a few inches, but the roof will not close completely
Try when closing, hold button for 5 seconds when already closed and attempt to open. If it opens all of the way. Keep button depressed and hold button when it gets all of the way open, hol for 5 additional second and repeat this open and closed. This will tell the body sunroof ecu Walt the travel limits are

SOURCE: Door open light switch problem
First check to see if voltage is actually going to the bulb at the "dome" light etc. when you open the door... Then check to see if you have proper ground at dome light.. If not check wiring harness to the switches at door usually located in the door jam area.... remove switcvh and inspect for missing wires that go to the dome light some times the dome light is connected to a switch on the dash check this first....basics always first, fuses and connections then fallow the wire as a last resort..
SOURCE: 85 Toyota Cressida. The Sun roof is stuck open!
I was lucky, the owners manual was still with the car and it addressed this problem. Tells you to remove the cover for the controls to the sun roof. Then remove the screw plug that is located in the forward left side of the control box hole (Need big screw driver to break it lose). Then remove the slug surounding the inner adjustment screw, being careful not to lose any shims or washers. Trun the adjustment screw counter clock wise to close the sunroof down and clock wise to shut the sunroof from the open position.
Looks like the motor is shoot. To prevent this from happening again I disconnected the white with black strip wire to the control pad and unsulated the lead. It can easiely be hooked back up in the future if the motor is replaced.
Good luck all!
SOURCE: Sun Roof won't open
There may be a way to open the sunroof manually by turning the motor with a tool. The motor could be broken and "free spinning" or it could be off track or something is stuck in the track. You just need to take it apart starting with the interior trim the rest should be pretty self explanitory. You may also be able to find a diagram on www.autozone.com.
Hi
Inspect the sun roof of your Pontiac Bonneville to make sure it's seated evenly on your vehicle, not raising or lifting at one corner. Lifting indicates the presence of debris on the tracks, or a damaged seal around the sun roof.
Remove the trim on the interior of your Pontiac Bonneville and allow the interior material to drop. Use compressed air to blow dust and debris from the tracks that move your sun roof. Treat the tracks using 3-In-One Lubricant.
Check the Pontiac Bonneville's drain tubes for clogging. Two of these run down the front of your vehicle to the bumpers. Two run to the back, most often by your tail lights. Clear the tubes using compressed air and replace them.
Clean the sun roof's rubber seal with a damp, lint-free cloth. Inspect the seal as you clean
