Try turning the steering wheel before turning the key. It may have been turned and locked prior to turning off the ignition.Good luck
SOURCE: IMMOBILISER
The key has a micro chip in it that transmits a signal/code to the anti-theft module/immobilizer. There have been cases where the immobiler/module has forgotten wht code it should respond to or the chip in the key has gone bad. Either way the vehicle will have to go to the dealer for repair as they will have to reprogram the immobilizer for the new key and vice versa depending on which of the 2 items went bad. Hope this helps u

Is the gear shift button stuck in, if so hit the gear shift a couple of time and that should unstick the botton, allowing you to remove your key

Thanks for the advice about the cable. I reached under the steering column, pulled cable towards ignition, and voila! Key turned to off and came out. THANK YOU! This just goes along with the gas gauge that doesn't work on this car....

Hope this helps all.... If the key is stuck (won't come out) and the column is NOT locked, one the gear shift there is a plastic sleeve. Put the gear shift in park...slide your hand below the knob and pull that sleeve up! Presto!!! it locks in park and the key comes out. I just put all the stuff i took apart back together... the other solutions may work but this is the first step to check... no tools and you know right away...
