Wheelwell Rust I have a 2000 Outback with 225K on it and I love this car. The body looks great for a 2000 because I took very good care of it. The only problem....rust on the two back wheel wells. I am contemplating trying to fix it myself. I have been watching Youtube videos and I think I can do it....I'm not looking for an amazing job, just something to get rid of the rust and make it look better. What to you think, should I do it myself or take it to a body shop? Any tips if I do it myself? Any tips about taking it to a bodyshop so I don't get ripped off? Thanks! Susan from CT

Do it yourself and stuff the job
take it to an accredited body shop and have it done professionally and nobody will know that it was rusted
make sure that they used good metal to replace the rust and not body bog as many do

SOURCE: Rust, rust, rust. Looks like my frame is rotting.

if you are talking about the section that the engine is mounted on you can replace the whole thing with a used one from a junkyard in most cases it costs 250 dollars for part not including installation not easy you will have to suspend engine in the air for this you need a special tool.

After reconnecting battery on a subaru outback car idles too low

If the alterntor has to work hard this could bring down you idle. and if the voltage regulator gets to hot and the "up the idle" signal does not reach the pcm then this could happen. But I'm 90% sure it's a bad grounding strap/cable cause this happend to me to. check the one to the trans. and the one to the body. and make sure they're clean with no rust or paint.

2002 nissan pathfinder with frame rusting through front curve wheelwell area of frame.

ANY FRAME DAMAGE IS DANGEROUS ! HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC ASAP. IF YOU ARE TO GET IN A ACCIDENT IT COULD BE VERY BAD NEWS .. IN FACT YOU MIGHT MAKE THE LOCAL NEWS ! DRIVE SLOW AND CAREFULLY TO YOUR LOCAL MECHANIC OR BODY SHOP, HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT.. IT FREE.. JUST ASK THEM IF THEY COULD TAKE A QUICK LOOK AT THE RUST ON MY FRAME AND IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE ?? IT COULD BE THAT THE CAR IS JUNK AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE .. SORRY ABOUT THIS BUT I CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS . SAFETY FIRST.. RUST NEVER SLEEPS.. BEST OF LUCK .. Jay

The passenger side headlight (low beam) needs replacing. It is a special edition 2000 Subaru Outback and I don't know if I just need a halogen bulb or the whole lamp.

It is Just a bulb. Open bonnet next to the radiator on each respective side is the wires to your headlight bulb. Very straight forward and easy to remove and replace. Good luck and have a great day.

2000 Subaru Outback manual transmission rebuild

I would want to see that for myself, or get a second opinion. That really sounds suspicious since they claimed there was rust in a box that was mostly filled with oil. And I can't see any logic in paying a lot of money to fix a transmission that is working. Why don't you take it to another shop and ask them to change the transmission oil, and to save the old oil for you to look at. It would be even better to change the oil yourself. Don't tell the dealer what you are doing. The best thing would be to just pick up your car, as is. If it is a scam, they could put some stuff in the transmission if you give them time to do it. In fact, they may have already done that. I can't say it's a scam, but it sounds like it could be if you haven't done anything that would have broken off teeth in the transmission. And if teeth are broken off you should be able to hear it while accelerating at low speed in each gear.
