Sorry
the low/no oil has caused bearing failure
repairs will reveal that you need new bearings,
rod and possible new crankshaft if the damage is severe
it comes as a cost for not doing the simple practice of not checking oil and water levels at least weekly

SOURCE: 1998 Prelude VTEC P1361 code, what's the most likely failure.

the code that you have has nothing to do with the oil level
that code is "Intermittent Interruption In TDC 1 sensor circuit"
check your the connection on your cam sensor and on your crank sensor

SOURCE: 1997 subaru outback make clicking noise on in reverse. Also, sometimes when the car is turned off, the car lurches a bit

does it click while reversing straight or while turning? Sounds like a stick shift. Lunging probably due to e-brake needing adjustment(if stick shift). If your car only clicks while turning in reverse you need new front axles and can probably drive that way for a while

SOURCE: loud knocking or tapping sound when engine is cold

Take our oil pan off from under your car and there should be 4 to 5 covers over a rod bearing. wiggle each one of them and find out which one is loose. take that cover off of the one that is wiggling and get the rod bearing out. order a new one from auto zone and replace it. The knocking in your motor can end up where you will need a whole new motor. so get it done before its to late.

2006 outback 2.5L tapping noise at 2500 to 3500 rpm

How many miles? Is it a clicking "tapping" or a solid tapping?. Subaru engines say many things. A clicking tapping may be the fuel injectors. A solid "tapping" at 25 to 35 sounds more like a rod bearing or a piston slap. A thumping sound is the main bearing. My guess would be a rod bearing.

Wipers stopped working, car screeching, oil issues

the smell could be oil leaking on to the exhaust from the rocker covers.(common problem in Subaru because of the side mounted pistons. Engine stop oil leak might fix other wise will have to get tappet cover seals replaced as they crack over time from the heat) easy enough fix. a tell tale sign is signs of engine oil stains or signs of oil dripping on to the exhaust(can locate by looking under the front of the car at the bottom of the engine itself) and this is probably the cause of the engine knock due to low oil.it will continue to leak till the problem is fixed

2004 Navigator 5.4l dohc passenger side lifter tap.

Are you absolutely certain the noise is lifter tap and not an exhaust leak? These are pretty well known for breaking exhaust manifold studs, or even cracking exhaust manifolds. The noise will be present on a cold engine but might go away as the engine heats up and the manifold expands. Maybe that's why it seems to go away after adding additives or changing the oil. It gets just enough heat in the engine to fool you in to thinking the issue was resolved by adding the oil/additive. Are you always adding to a cold engine?

Check engine light, knocking? PCV Valve?

I have this same vehicle. The "check engine" light warns you that the input from a sensor is not valid. To locate the problem sensor you need to have the fault codes downloaded and interpreted. I am sure your PCV has little to do with this. The burning smell cold be oil from your transaxle seals being thrown up onto the exhaust pipes. The outback is a sophistecated and refined vehicle that requires sophisticated equipment to work on it. If you have engine "knocking" it is likely to be the knock sensor and if this is the case, you need to have it remedied very quickly

Subaru Outback - '03 boxer 2.5L engine sounds like a diesel

heavier oil if you are not in a cold climate. but before you do that have the oil pressure checked. We used to use a can of STP every once in a while on a motor in a dodge we had... nothing wrong with it... was just noisy.
