You might have leak in heater matrix, or could just be over fill, they have overflow pipes that disperse excess water back down through the engine bay, can sometimes look like you have a leak when in fact you over filled. as a temp measure, you can use a thing called RADWELD... but if it's cleared up and your coolant level is ok.. then.... if it aint broke-don't fix it. do keep an eye on it though. good luck Red.

SOURCE: Freelander 2005 Coolant warning light stays on

You can disconnect your vehicle's negative battery cable and leave it disconnected for about 20 minutes, and it should reset the code causing the coolant light to come on. If you disconnect the battery cable you will also have to reset your clock, any pre-programmed radio stations, ect. in the vehicle as well.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.

SOURCE: we have a water leak in the drivers footwell of

I have a discovery 3 and I had the same problem with water in the footwell. The problem was blocked drain holes on the sunroof. The water overflows from the sunroof onto the headlining ( which is plastic coated so the water will not come through it) and then ran down the headlining to the "A" pillar. It ran down the back of the "A" pillar trim and then came out of the joint between the trim lower down by the door hinge area.

SOURCE: water leak above sun visor sunroof seals seem ok

If the sunroof seal is ok, then it is possibly entering by the roof bars, put a little silicon sealant around the roof bar where it meets the roof, you can find black silicon from any hardware shop, and the same goes , if you have a roof antenna. Hope that helps

2006 impala losing a lot of coolant

As Steve, (the answer above), said, water pump or hoses. Check each hose one at a time. If the engine is still hot wipe each hose until dry then leave things to cool down. When cold, Re-check each hose carefully. Look for a hose that has become wet again. Check the ends where the clamps are fitted as well. One could be loose.
One final test is fill the coolant reservoir, leave the hood open and start the engine. Let the engine get up to working temperature so the thermostat opens. CAREFULLY look at the hoses and connectors to see if the leak is visible when the system is pressurised. This should also give you a clue as to whether it is the water pump. The pump leak will be on the engine and not from a hose.

My temperature guage stays in the middle, is this ok?

Yes, the temperature gauge should normally stop in the middle, between the cold and hot points on the gauge. When the engine is cold the thermostat will be closed and will keep recirculating the coolant in the engine block until it warms up sufficiently. Then the temperature of the warm coolant will cause the thermostat to open the channel to the radiator to get rid of excess heat, which should stop the coolant from over heating. So the effect of the thermostat keeps the coolant at a fairly stable temperature. When the coolant runs low, it can't transfer enough heat to the radiator and the coolant and engine then over heats. Watch for radiator leaks under your car after you have been driving it. If the coolant goes low again fairly quickly you could have a leak in a hose or the radiator itself.

How do i remove engine coolant cap on 2001 cadillac dhs

WAIT UNTIL YOUR ENGINE IS COLD,YOUR RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP IS LOCATED ON THE COOLANT OVER FLOW RESERVOIR, THATS WHERE YOU ADD COOLANT WHEN COOLANT LOW,YOU POUR COOLANT IN THE OVER FLOW RESERVOIR UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL REMAIN AT FULL COLD MARK DONT OVER FILL OVER FLOW RESERVOIR, WHEN COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING WHEN ADDING COOLANT AND COOLANT LEVEL STAY AT COLD MARK ON THE RESERVOIR YOU RADIATOR HAS THE CORRECT COOLANT LEVEL IF COOLANT LEVEL KEEP DROPPING CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND RADIATOR AND THE TOP AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSES, LOOK FOR COOLANT LEAK AT WATER PUMP GASKET OR SEAL OR LEAK AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IF YES REPLACE WATER PUMP.

My audi A3 FSI 2004 Model is leaking coolant. I have to keep filling it up with water daily, as the coolant low warning sign keeps coming up evrytime i start the car. This car had a new water pump and head...

You're going to need to visually inspect for leaks and if no external leaks are evident I suspect your head gaskets are leaking again - check oil for coolant in oil - it will look milky

2002 kia rio 1.5, every time i drive the car i need to put about a quart of water in the radiator and fill the tank next to it. no water under the car. No water in the oil or trans. i cant find any leaks....

The water seems to leak out when the engine is running and so it is important to hve the test done when the engine idles.
So fill up and lett it idle to checck if the fault appears.
It is possible that the radiator has got a microscopic leak and is steams out at some stage for sure.
Once confirmed you wilI have to get teh radiator checked with a pressure test. check the bandages of the hose to water pump/engine.
Also the last point if the engine is heating up to oerflow off when it is running and at stops.

94 regal gran sport, overheats, steams windows when first starting, low coolant, started lagging now

You're losing coolant through your heater box which is located inside your vehicle. The heater box contains the "Heater Core" which supplies heat to the interior of the vehicle when the weathers cold. If you don't have a radiator pressure tester or want to diagnose this yourself, just get a white paper towel and start dabbing the carpeting on the passenger side of the floorboard or leave some paper towels there and if you see "green"...that's your coolant leak. It's a complex job and I wouldn't think you would want to tackle it, for your Air Conditioner's Evaporator is also in the Heater Box which has to be removed to replace the Heater Core. Don't use the over the counter stop leaks until you get it fixed. Just use "Ground Black Pepper." That's right, pepper will go to the site of a small leak and fill the hole to stop small leaks, whereas the other stuff will not come completely out even with a normal flush and fill. Your lagging problem is probably due to the coolant sensor getting false readings because of the coolant being low. Also to prevent leakage, undo your radiator cap one-notch...since radiator caps can apply 18 pounds of pressure, undoing them one notch will keep quite a bit of the coolant from leaking on your floorboards...where the steam is going to your windows. (smile)

Hope this Helps,

Oil in radiator

There is really only one thing that causes this, that is a leaking cylinder head gasket(s).

Symbol lit up

there can be a yellow light in the cluster that looks like a small radiator or box with waves inside of it to indicate water. This light means that the coolant level sensor has detected a low coolant level. Typically the expansion tanks inside of these cars will crack from heat and age. A simple diagnosis is to check your coolant level and top it off. Do not forget to bleed it by unscrewing the bleeder screw found on the upper radiator hose while filling up the reservoir found on the right hand side of the radiator. once the coolant has been filled, tighten the bleeder screw back down but be careful not to over tighten. and finally screw on the expansion tank cap. run the vehicle to operating temperature and use a flashlight to inspect the engine bay for leaks. If there is a leak, it will need to be repaired. possible leaks are a cracked expansion tank, leaking radiator hoses, or a leaking water pump or thermostat.
