Jaguar XK8 Remote Locking problem

Hi,
My 1997 Jaguar XK8 remote locking doesn't work unless you are literally standing at the car. I have changed batteries on both fobs and they perform the same, badly. Where is the sensor in the car and what is the best thing to change first?

Check your lock relays located in the interior fuse panel. Sometimes the actual connections to the fuse block can come lose and the relays wont work properly. My 2000 silverado did the same thing till i bent the pins on the relay for a tighter fit.
hope this helps

When changing batterys to fobs some times you have to reprogramme them to the car , go on youtube and ask the same question as a few cars need to reset different ways

Vapor lock when the engine is runnig. How do I fix this issue

"Vapor lock" is a condition that occurs when fuel becomes heated to the point of evaporation. If your vehicle is truly vapor locking, it means that something hot is coming in contact with your fuel line somewhere, overheating the gasoline to the point of it vaporizing. This is HIGHLY UNLIKELY. If you truly do have a vapor lock condition, find out where the fuel is becoming heated and fix that condition.
On a 1997 Jaguar XK8, it is FAR more likely that you have a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad ICU.

Locks set off alarm

Inside the door is a door switch that is called the tamper switch or door ajar switch, each door has one, it may be defective, it is the Ford designed switch and they have had problems. To confirm the next time the system goes off, unlock and lock the passenger door if it has a lock, my new car doesn't and I know many makes don't have any passenger side door lock cylinder. If doing that shuts of the security system the switch is surely defective or the wiring to it is damaged.

My power locks don't work anymore. How do I fix this?

if you mean your remote locking system, most of the time its just the case of changing the cells in your remote. otherwise the remote is not prone to any other problems unless its been soacked in water.

Remote locking dont work occasinally

Change the battery in your remote--if this does not work, I suspect that the sensor is defective.
