Headlights on 2005 corolla won't turn off at all

Headlights & tailights will not turn off even with switch in off position. Pulled the relay and headlights go out but not the tail lights or front indicator lights.

Common Corolla problem, the DRL module likely burned out. Smell it. For 2000 and 2001 it was just left of glove box latch hidden. Google your 2005 location. Clean your battery terminals, system takes the path of least resistance to ground which overheats the module. I hacked my burned DRL with a single jumper wire from the only constant hot power input (greenish if I remember right, third pin over from one side) to its closest neighbor connection on the circuit board (or the big solder ground anchor blobs) and pulled the high beam light bulb because that then stays on. Lights are now off, system finally hacked OK except for no high beam indicator. (Hi beams, lights all still work by the switch.) I haven't checked if lights are on automatically during the day yet.

Pull up your emergency brake just enough to where your brake light on your dash comes on. If this changes anything or even doesn't change anything then let me know and I'll look further into your issue. These are just some of my trouble shooting steps.

SOURCE: Corolla 99 headlights

The car is equipped with Daytime running lights so it will always be on...to turn it off you must go in the hood and on the right side next to the engine air filter and fuse box, there is two smaller fuze boxes and the first one going from down to up direction labels DRL left and DRL right which are two fuses 10A or so take them off and they will not come on!

Do you have an aftermarket key fob for your vehicle? Often these remote controls are wired into the lights for convenience. This could be the cause of the problem. Some vehicles were also programmed from the factory to have day-time running lights. These are normally controlled from the key position. If so it is possible that you have a bad ignition switch which is not disconnecting the running lights in the off position.

1994 Pontiac Grand am Tailights all work normaly except when the headlights are on and then they don't work at all?

Could be the headlight switch.
The switch has two sets of contacts for the parking lights, the park position and headlight position.
You may need to check the circuit at the switch to see if you are loosing power when the switch is moved from park to head.

You checked to make sure you didn't blow all the bulbs at once?
If your front park lights work, then the headlight switch is probably alright.
You may have a taillight relay in your fusebox. Check the owner's manual. It may show it.

I have a 1998 Toyota Corolla that was running just great until one night the lights wouldn't shut off, not even when the engine was turned off. What's wrong and how do I fix?

Sounds like you have a relay stuck in the closed position. This is the relay that controlls the auto on/off head lights. When you turn the car off with the headlights on the relay is triggered as soon as you open your door, then the headlights turn off to keep you from running your battery down. I would suspect this is the problem. Replace the relay once tested bad.

What started this mess? tailights, fog lights, brake lights....

The relay has nothing to do with the tail lights, but replacing the switch sounds like a good idea. There's a nut holding it in place, see http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/electrics/switches/switch-headlight/1027524/ to get an idea of the construction. And the price. This is not worth fiddling about unreliable workarounds...
In addition, if fuses 15 and/or 16 burn frequently there might be a problem with the tail light cabling.

Good luck

Headlight wont turn offcole family racing

Only 2 things can cause this either the headlight switch or the headlight relay, chances are it's the switch,if you have a multimeter pull the relay out and probe the leads with the headlights in the off position you should only have power on 1 wire, with them on 2 wires are hot if this is the case then the relay is stuck,it's in the fuse box under the hood, another thing can cause this if the fog lights have been rewired to stay on even with highbeams on,power will feed back to the headlight circuit.
