SOURCE: Starting problems

It will likely be the crank sensor, usually fitted next to or behind the bottom engine pulley. A common failure is for the sensor to stop sending a signal when hot, and the engine will stall immediately. After a time, it re-starts but will cut out again when the sensor gets hot again. These sensors are easy to find and replace, and not usually expensive.

My ssister has a 1999lincontowcar you can be driving an out off nowerethe car just dies they pulled up code. An aid it needed a new. Air control valve replased the car come home shutes down again

Just because the computer registered an air idle control valve does not mean that is the reason it dies. You need to determine what the car does not have that it needs when it dies. An engine needs spark, fuel, compression, and timing to run. When the car dies, check for fuel pressure, and make sure it has spark. It obviously has compression and timing or it would not run at all.

Hi, my 300zx non turbo 1986 will run for a few seconds then die. I have replaced the pump, the relays and the mass air flow sensor, and the fuel regulator and the fuel filter! Please help! It runs when...

I believe there is another fuel filter on that model . There may be one underneath the body AND at the carb/injector. Are the injectors putting out gas. You can check that. Mechanically , you have done all the other stuff. I know it is frustrating, but make sure all the hoses and lines are secure. You sound as if you have done that, but when we hear hoof eats, we don't think of zebras. Good luck.

Engine starts and runs for 2 seconds then dies. I have tried both keys with same results. There are no warning lights and no codes.

Had same concern with my 2002 Beetle Turbo S on 9/11/2011. Tried both keys too.If problem started all of the sudden and no other symptoms tow car to dealer with both keys and have them both programmed. For some ungodly reason it is a common problem for these keys to lose program and cause immobilizer system to engage because security system thinks car is being stolen so it will start and die in 1-2 seconds. Another option is you can search for the free step by step software online to program them from your laptop but you must have an OBD connector that connects to vehicle onboard diagnostic connector and must be a USB port on other end to connect to laptop. Don't know where you could buy this cable, I lucked up and had a friend that owns a repair shop who let me borrow the one that connects to his OBD scanner. As soon as they were programmed vehicle started immediately.

I have a 2007 chevy ss with a 5.3 engine. In real hot weather and running the air conditioner the engine will die and will not start until you raise the hood and let it cool down a little. When I say it...

The car is getting to hot and the asd ( automatic shutdown relay) is activated. Have vehicle temp checked when it shut down. The reason it shuts down when the ac is on something is causing too much of a load.

The 3.8 series 2 engine doesnt turn over with the

sounds like it needs an ignition switch. the reason it dies after a few seconds after jumping the starter is bc the security system from gm thinks you're stealing the car so it kills the fire. the security system goes thru the key so if the switch is bad, it wont run no matter how you try to crank it

Believe my car dies because of security issues.............

if it dies while running it is NOT security. This is 100% sure. I had this same problem though and solved it on my 94 Park Ave by changing the Crankshaft sensor and the Camshaft sensor. Have those checked by your mechanic. It's a very typical problem in those cars.

Yes This Problem Could Be Your Mass Air Flow Senser. I would call bob at rhineharts auto parts his number is 717-405-6860 he will have the part. And his prices are really reasonable

93 grand ltd Stalls after intial start all dummy lights come

greetings: the reason your veh will not run is because the security system has been activated. it will allow you to start it but the security system kills the motor so the veh can not be driven off if in fact it was being stolen. if you have the remote control, lock the veh and then unlock it. this will shut the security system down and return your veh to normal and it should start and run normal. i have a 93 and 94 both worked this way. using the key to lock and unlock to shut the system did not work for me but the remote did the job.also anytime the batt cable is removed, the security system will activate when you put the batt cable back on. then you have to do what i described above on mine to deactivate the security system. the manual says use the key to deactivate the system but that does not work on mine. i hope this helps have a great day wayne
