Mr. White, for the Power Steering starting winning four things are happening. 1. not having Power steering fluid enough in the fluid can, Check it. 2. The Pressure and one way valve either is seized, blocked from any dirt, 3. The Power steering pump itself worn inside ( blades worn) or 4.any Dirt ( mud ) built up inside if the fluid never changed and makes narrow flow of fluid and dropped the flow pressure.

Can I use stp automatic transmission fluid for power steering in my 2002 jetta

I suggest only using power steering fluid in the power steering system in VW Jetta's. I tried using trans. fluid before and it made the pump wine constantly especially when cold and I had to purge the system and refill it with power steering fluid to get it to stop.

My 2000 windstar is hard to turn i am not sure if is the **** or rack help?

It is full of fluid right? Squeeze the return line to the pump with a pair of pliers. If the pump wines when you do this the rack is the problem. If the pump doesn't wine, the pump is bad

Power steering pump wines and stiff like when

If front end steering linkage and ball joints are free, likely the pump has worn out and is not making enough pressure.

This is most likely the power steering pump that you hear. Check the fluid level to be sure it is full. If the fluid is full then the pump is going out. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Wine in power steering, I put in new fan belt, power steering pump, new rack

The wine will be there until the fluid bleeds out all the air.If it does not, then have the power steering pump replaced again, and be sure to flush the system with a good power steering flush. But the remanufatured pump is most likely the problem. The pump had a flaw that the rebuilder didn`t see.Do make sure the lines are not kinked anywhere.

Bleeding power steering pump

The system bleeds its self as it runs, the pump will eventually stop wining once the air is out of the lines.Let the van idle and turn the steering wheel full lock in each direction a couple time to move the fluid through out the system letting out any air.
