Your fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator are not supplying constant fuel pressure. Too much or too little is causing it to kill. You can pull the vacuum line from the regulaor and check for gas. If there is none, you need a pump, it is weak.

SOURCE: my 1992 lexus ls 400 keeps stalling and idleis very low

Look for a small electric motor near the accelerator cable and near the top of the valve cover.

It's call IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) motor.

It's job is to increase the idle when load is added.
Example: turning on headlight,turning on AC.

Testing it is simple.

Warm up you car for 10 minutes.

Locate the IAC motor

turn on loads.....AC,headlights,etc

The motor should move the idle up

If the motor does not increase the RPM then it can be stick.

Try to give it few gentle taps to free up the gears.

It can be clean if your are up to it.

This electrical motor is very expensive. Please handle it with care.

====

The other trouble spot are

old accelerator cable

TPS Throttle position sensor

====

I will do a simple tune up and gas treatment before starting to replace any parts.

CRANKING NOT STARTING

Sounds like either the fuel filter or the catalytic converter. You will need to check the back pressure of the exahust and the fuel pressure after it fails. This I say because you did not mention any trouble codes.(check engine light on or flashing)

I have a lexus LS 400 (1995) model. What I don't

It is a bad (leaky) electrolytic capacitor in the dash board that cost a few dollars. The dealer wants to install a whole new dashboard assembly for big $$$.

I have a 1991 Lexus 400. It cranks but won't start.If it does start it stalls or runs perfectly for days.Any thoughts??

Check battery cables. MAke sure they are on tight, and not corroded. Check ground wires inside the engine compartment, and even inside the car, for tightness. Try a good fuel injector cleaner, like Lucas.

Lexus won't stay running

The crazy part about it my car doin the same thing.Part of problem was I had got some bad gas from a cheap gas station( so watch your gas) I replaced fuel filter and pump (by car shop) and put in jet cleaner also. When I took car out shop it was still doin the same thing. I have changed the throttle position sensor and it seemed like it half-way fixed the problem, but now all it do is stall or cut off when touch gas pedal.
