The car seems to run fine in a straight away and with slight turns, but once I make a hard turn (like driving in a circle or a right turn) the engine studders and the car stalls out. The steering starts getting harder as well.
Any ideas on the possible cause?
Would the powersteering pump cause the engine to stall?
This is caused by slow engine idle speed, do the procedure below.
Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
Why does my 2003 envoy xl keep wanting to stall when I'm stopped at traffic lights? Sometimes the RPM's sputter when stopped at a light from 500 to 1000 then back to 500 to 1000 and so on. When ever I go to acclerate it wants to stall. HELP!
Have your 4WD system looked at. If your front axle hub is in the lock position, the Envoy will have a harder time making the turn since the two front wheels are fighting with one another. One wheel need to travel further then the other around a tight corner adding stress to the 4WD system and the transmission and engine. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.
