I have a 2004 NISSAN SENTRA SE R SPEC V (Nismo) with 70,950 miles, my car sputters while idling, and recently quit while I was driving. No warning lights came on such as engine etc. It was previously serviced for the sputtering issue because the engine light came on. The mechanic informed me that it was a loose clamp on a hose that lead to the engine so he replaced it with a tighter clamp. After about a month, while I was turning into a parking lot, it completely shut off. I parked and tried to start it back up and it started. A few hours later, I returned to the vehicle, attempted to start it again and the result was nothing. No start, no interior lights, no horn no power at all. I replaced the battery and it started right up again. Now it's back to heavy sputtering when idling.
You have 2 Problems, First problem batteries dying you have to make sure connections secure and alternator is charging your batteries (go to an Autozone or Discount advanced they will tell you). The Sputtering is either a bad SPARK PLUG or a damaged Cable going to the spark plug..Change them every 2 years.
