When I turn on my Jeep 06' cherokee the car begins to rattle, as we drive and hit 40MPH or more we feel the same thing. The oil has been changed recently and there was more added. It rattles when the oil dial monitor isnt directly in the middle of the oil gage, particularrly when the gage falls under 40 . Not knowing cars I have no idea what could be wrong ... Any suggestions to find what it could be?
the engine light just turned on and it's more of tapping- along with has small little kick backs.the engine light just turned on and it's more of tapping- along with has small little kick backs.
Might want to take it somewhere to have the oil pressure chk. with a michanical guage to see if you are loosing pressure. Might want to take it somewhere to have the oil pressure chk. with a michanical guage to see if you are loosing pressure.

If the Jeep is making noise when the oil pressure is low, what you might be hearing is the valves or lifters. Take the Jeep to a mechanic and have it looked at before it gets worse and a small repair could turn into a big one.

Vibration from about 40-60 mph is usually attributed to wheel balancing, but the onset when you hit a bump seems to indicate play in the steering linkages (tie rods etc) or suspension members and stabiliser bar rubbers but you had that all checked out, that brings us back to the wheel balancing.
so it goes away after a bit, that could be cause theres no oil on the top part of your engine, thats normal. wait till it gets older, it will be louder.
If it is the heat shield , any muffler shop can put a couple of welds on it. Could also be that the cat converter is destroyed inside with pieces of it ratling around. In that cast a new cat is the only answer.
Check your oil level first and make sure its at the correct level. A couple of things, if your guage is going up it's a bad guage/sending unit are easiest checks. If it goes way up while driving you probably have an oil passage blocked somewhere causing the pressure to spike maybe a spun bearing (lower motor). Does it make any rattling/knocking noise? If not I would get it checked out ASAP, low/high oul pressure can lead to severe engine damage/failure.
Sounds like a bad pressure sending unit, or a partially plugged passage going to it. First though, check that the wire connection is good on the unit. Sometimes just adding a good additive such as marvel oil will free it up sufficiently to restore function. With no noises etc, that's the most likely source of your problem. If not, driving as you have been the engine would be junk by now!!! Good luck

Rattle or knock? Or, tapping? How low does oil pressure go?
