P0733 Trany Ratio in gear 3. This is a trany fault code and the first thing you should check is your tps sensor using your DVOM meter. Measuring the voltages between idle and WOT (wide open throttle), there should be no interruption in the reading (or glitches). Otherwise, it can play havoc to your shifting cycles which can cause this code P0733. If there are glitches, replace the tps sensor right away and reset the code. If trany is suspected, most common fix for this points to a defective valve body. To verify, it can be done by using a scanner which has the capacity to command the trany solenoids so it can be tested at various trany operating pressures. P0717 is a improper signal from your pules generator A. Which is a the turbine speed sensor on the transmission, You have two of them, the A reads the speed of the input shaft of the transmission and the B sensor reads the output shaft of the transmission. I know with the P0717 it will put the transmission in the limp mode and will not shift past 3rd gear and if your running the transmission hard on third you may have triggered the P0733 which is the 3rd gear slipping. Check the transmission fluid and make sure you have not burnt the fluid, if the transmission fluid is burnt you may want to have a transmission repair shop replace the turbine speed sensor (Pules Generator A) and the fluid and filter. Cross the fingers and hope the transmission was not ran to hard in third causing damage to the third gear clutch packs. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

Where's the input speed sensor on a 2012 GMC SIERRA 1500 WORK TRUCK 4.3

    4wd or 2?
well the RPO tag tells you which tranny box is there, and matters.
some cars have more than one transmission used, GM sure.
    4L60E is common.
700 is useless code means tranny problems
but 717 sure in turbine speed, and is on the tranny oil pump
the turbin connect to the pump.
8 transmission use no counting the diesel
so learn to read YOUR PRO codes. ALL GM cars /trucks
all have RPO codes. (as builts) and will tell you in 1 second what M coded transmission is there Mxx
but this this sensor is not easy reach.
I will do just 1 the 4L60, have full manual on it.

Does the 99 explorer have a vacuum modulator on the tranny and where would I find the vac hoses off the tranny.

There is no vacuum modulator on your vehicle ! It's controlled by the PCM ,all electronic shift control solenoids ! What DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes do you have ? P0171 bank 1 lean code ? doesn't mean vac system leak ! could be a vacuum leak but also could be a O2 sensor problem or an intake manifold leak, brake vacuum booster diaphragm leak . What do you mean a slight code of gear three incorrect ratio ? P0733 ? P0733 Gear 3 Incorrect ratio Sorry Jon but you really should take this to a professional !

    Check Engine Code p0717

shifting bad< (shoe falls to floor?)
the codes are error, and that cause the mechanic to do tests
based on that, its covered in the FSM if you want read that.
this car is a Daewoo, in snakes skins, its not a Suzuki.
    p07xx means trans.
    http://engine-codes.com/p0717_suzuki.html

what do they the do, well they read the page on 717
and see where that sensor is , and look at it.
to see if the cable is damage, after all , its in harms way?
road hazzard hits at and Bam. huh> or it fall off. or has a corroded
    connector.
id look at the FSM or login to alldata.com and look up 117
It may mean the sensor on the out put shaft of the tranny is dead
if this true, (me too lazy to log in now) the trans goes to limphome
and shifts funny. in most cars the tranny uses the back up
sensor for speed. when the tranny HQ sensor fails.

also gloss transmission slippage can try the rear trans sensor.
due to slips so bad, the tranny thinks the sensor is bad.
    login to alldata.com and read.

    hi,
take the tranny pan off and look for small pieces of plastic in the fluid. sounds like a sensor got chewed up inside the tranny and small pieces of plastic have been sucked up and contaminated the internals of the tranny. look at where the wires go into the tranny and try and look inside where the sensor pickups is poking through inside to see if it looks normal in there. its going to have to go to the transmission shop. hopefully it wont be too expensive. as sensors are cheaper to fix then bands and internals. get two estimates.

98 voyager is in limp mode, codes p0733 and p0734 are third and fourth gear ratio error. had one person say the input and output speed sensor on tranny are bad. another said the pin that holds the band on...

It's neither. That trans does not have a band. If you had only one gear ratio error it could possibly be speed sensor but not 2. Sounds like either shaft broke inside or sun gear.

2000 f550 super duty 7.3 diesel p0717 and p0715 codes just replaced sensor and rebuilt tranny still pausing before going into reverse heard this was a glow plug problem does anyone know how to fix it

no they are not glow plug codes, from the look of them you have a trans speed sensor wiring issue, i can not point you down the trans road that's not my specialty but try finding the sensor and trace the wires back to have a look. P0715d TSS Sensor Circuit Malfunction Fault

There are some sensors on the transmission that tend to go bad. You may also need to check the wiring. Could be a computer problem. How many miles?
