I have no dash lights when I turn on the headlights. Also when I turn on the head lamps the lights the clock and radio lights go out. If I turn the dimmer all the way to the full on position the dash lights will come on so I know the bulbs in the dash are good. All fuses are good. Any ideas?

Could you take out a bulb and with a testlight/probe check that you do in fact have power to that circuit .Also check that they are the correct bulb for that application I have seen people put indicator bulbs in where therse supposed to be a double filament bulb.Does the base of the bulbs lead contacts line up with the two steel terminals inside the plug?

What year is this vehicle? It might have an ambient light sensor that has failed if it's 90's+,but older it's most likely the dimmer switch. If it's early 80's you should be able to replace it w/o having to removed the dash, just small panel cover nearby.

You would have to check and see if you are getting any power out of the light switch. There is a seperate wire for the headlights and the dash lights.
