2011 C70 Front Camber is too agressive, is there anyway to prevent excessive tire wear that is due to negative camber being too large?

The front tires are wearing on the inside shoulder due to negative camber on the front. All other alignment specs are good. There appears to be no built in adjustment on this model. There are aftermarket cam bolts that are supposed to be used in the struts, but do not fit this model, although parts are listed to fit. Does anyone have a solution to reduce the negative camber on this vehicle?

Have you had any work done to raise or lower the vehicle? What shape are the struts in? What about accidents ? What is the camber set to now? Did you look into aftermarket camber plates?

Testimonial: "No work has been done on the vehicle. The struts are like new, only 17K on car. No accidents, no damage, camber is -1.3 degrees, so it is in spec, but spec is also down to -.1 degrees. There was wear on the rear due to -2.6 degree camber and that was fixed by putting adjustable camber arms on the rear. Dealer actually stocked that aftermarket part for the rear. The front is still wearing the tires and we (dealer and I) felt if we could get the camber set closer to the minimum spec of -.1 Degrees we could help the wear issue. We tried the "cam" bolts that are supposed to fit in the struts to aid in the adjustment for this model, however the AC Delco part number that is for this vehicle (45K18036) will not fit through the holes on the strut. So I am asking if there is a known part that will fit this vehicle or if there is another way to reduce the negative camber on the front of the 2011 C70."

If the GM part wont fit, you either have the different struts on the car or you can drill out the holes which is not NHTS compliant.

SOURCE: My C70 has way more wear on the inside of the rear

2.5 degrees negative camber is not within spec. You need new control arms in the rear. These will set your camber back to the factory setting and reduce your tire wear on the inner edge. The first shop you went to is correct, the camber cannot be adjusted, components must be replaced to rectify the excessive camber. Ive done a couple of New Style C70 rear control arms for this very reason, if your vehicle is under warranty however, the dealer needs to be able to prove that the car needs it. So if you dont have wear on your tires and when the toe was set it readjusted the camber (when you adjust toe it affects camber and caster measurements) then they cant prove to Volvo that it needs the control arms. I hope this helps

What causes the drivers side tire to tilt outward

well if its a nascar race car your speaking about then that's called Positive camber !!! and it makes you go faster in the turns ! cus there always turning left !!! if its not a race car your speaking of , then you have a bent front axle it will make the tire loose traction easier and it will make tire wear out faster

Preventing tire wear is about regular maintainence to your vehicle.
You should rotate your tires every 5,000 miles , and keep
your tire pressure at factory pressures as indicated by the tag
inside the drivers door column.
Alignment is another factor in tire wear , look at your tires carefully .
Look for any unusual wear , especally on the inside of the tires,
as this is usually the most troublesome spot.
As vehicles age , the springs lose their tension to a degree.
This causes a problem in the tire angle called "camber".
The vehicles wheels are tilted inward at the top.
Excessive negative camber will wear the inside of the tire.
Most vehicles can have this corrected by properly aligning
the vehicle .
Another wear problem can be caused by the toe adjustment
being out of specifications .
This is the most destructive angle to tires , it the same angle you use to steer the vehicle left and right .
It normally causes inner and outer tire edges to wear rough in
one direction smooth in another while rubbing your hand around the
tire.
Both these angles can be corrected by a professional alignment .
Be sure the technician inspects your front end for any worn parts,
as aligning it with them is a waste of money and time .
Always ask for a before and after printout of your alignment.

The tires are wear out on the inside and dishing on the outside, is this a sign of wore out struts causing the front to be out of line. What is the fix needed replacw struts in front and new tires

Wearing on the inside can be caused by an excessive camber angle or excessive toe out, or both. Either of these can be caused by worn or damaged suspension parts. Camber affects Caster, and Camber and Caster affect Toe. Toe affects the Thrust Angle. (These are the major suspension angles involved in wheel alignment) The "dishing" or "cupping" is caused by what is sometimes called "wheel-hop" this can be caused by worn-out struts or shocks and can also be caused by tires that are seriously out of balance.

The recommended "Fix" would be to inspect the ENTIRE suspension system to check for loose and/or worn and/or damaged parts. Replace any of these parts as necessary. Then replace and balance the tires and head straight over to the alignment shop to have all of your suspension angles set to manufacturer's specifications. (Most tire stores also have an alignment machine)

Front tires wearing on inside very quickly on 1998 Mazda B2500

This may be due to the alignment being out of specification or possibly loose front end parts throwing your alignment out.

My front tires lean in at the top on my 1990 ford ranger

Dear Leaning,
This is what they call a negative camber issue, caused normally by excessively worn or damaged parts.Since this is a 90 Ford Ranger this vehicle has upper and lower balljoits on both front sides. It would be best to inspect these first and make sure there is no play or excessive wear on them, after that make sure your coil springs have not become weakened. When that has become performed the last step would be to get an alignment on the vehicle. If the camber is not still quite in spec then this vehicle will require what they call camber correction slugs.....they install in the upper balljoint sleeve and are capable of being turned around so you can acheive your desired camber setting.Any questions get back to me, I HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

Tires wearing inside on 2008 Impala LT

this is a wheel camber (in and out tilt of wheel and tire) problem, u may have to have a Camber adjustment kit put in, most new cars have no adjustment provided for this. the bottom line here is you need to see a really good front end shop to get this taken care of, also the tires will continue to wear this way even if problem is corrected, so may want to replace them or rotate them.

Your situation is not not abnormal. Since you can't rotate due to different sizes front & rear & they are high performance "Y" speed rated tires 30K is really pretty good
