2003 chrysler sebring xl auto transmission locked in low gear

When I was taking off my trans shift slowly in to gear. i live on a side street to the highway so i gave it gas to get up speed and it seem to pop out of gear i let off the gas to let it go back into gear but after that it didnt shift right. I stoped at a red light then took off up a small grade and it would'nt stay in gear so i pulled over and put it in low gear and that what it stays in now . the trans has a whinning noise now ? i have the reverse gear and low gear.
i also had to drive back home in low at the speed of 45 mph which was 5000 rpms.it stayed in low gear fot the 11 miles home. what could be my problem ?

Check that the shift linkage is connected at the trans, if it is, put some transmission fluid in it after checking the dipstick while running in neutral with brake on.

Most safety switches are a black module located on the side of the transmission, where it shifts into gear.

Drive it slowly to a reputable transmission shop. There is nothing you can fix yourself.

2001 Chrysler Sebring does not shift. I can put it in reverse and drive and it runs, but it does not shift out of first gear. Speedometer still works. Transmission fluid shows that levels are fine.

might be a pluged filter in the transmission check that and it could not hurt to take it to a transmission shop to have them run a trouble code on the tranny

1999 chrysler sebring, transmission doesnt shift

find out why the light is on and fix it. This will most likely be a trans wiring issue that the light is on for.

Chrysler lhs 3.5 engine

It sounds like it is in limp mode. This is to protect further damage to transmission. You need to take it to a trans shop for diagnostic
