did you lose power to the cig lighter or the auxilury one(the one with two by each other)?if you lost power to the auxilury power then its not a fuse, but a bolky black one, , this should help with that problem, as for the idiling one, change the fuel filter and if you havent change spark and wires very easy to do. Should do the trick, had the idling thing and helped when i changed the sparks and wires. good luck

SOURCE: we are putting a clutch

Hi. Welcome to FixYa. I will do my best to assist you, with the hopes that you will award me with a FixYa rating for my assistance.

What I do, in my service department, is to pull the transmission and the transfer case as on unit. It is faster, and much simpler. There is no reason to pull them separately. That is way too much work.

I hope that this helps you out.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

SOURCE: brake line leaking

Hi,

I had this same issue. This location you mentioned is prone to the accumulation or road grit/sand and water and leads to rust through of the two brake lines. I determined it was best to take a tubing cutter and remove the bad sections and just replace them with new brake lines. (splice in) You'll need a steel tubing flare kit, two brake lines ( i picked em up at the parts store) two 36" and and four inverted flare adapters. The parts guys will assist you well, let them know what you are doing. Should go pretty good for you if you have any contortionist blood in ya! Naw, it's just a bit tricky to flare the tube while up in there.

You can hear 4x4 engage when you press 4 hi or 4 lo and light does come on the indicate but you cannot move in any amount of snow. there is no extra gripping power. its just like in 2 wheel drive. what...

i had a similar problem with mine, check to see if you are getting vacuum to the front 4x4 actuator valve under the battery tray, it looks like a big diaphragm with a cable hooked to it. the hose is tied close to the oil dipstick. if the diaphragm sucks in when you have the vehicle started and engage 4x4, then its likely front axle related. but if you get no vacuum at all then check the vacuum pump located on the transfer case. i didnt have the money to replace the vacuum pump so i made me a turn valve under the hood and ran vacuum lines to the intake. just make sure you turn the valve off after you disengage 4x4 or you will use more gas cause the front axle would stay locked in, and may cause more probs down the road. the vacuum pump on the transfer case is about 200 bucks. it cost me 10 dollars for the valves and hoses... hopes this helps.

1998 gmc jimmy you here the 4x4 ingage but the front wheels want pull

Hello Bj.

This is a common issue with the Jimmy's in that year.
Because you can hear the shift motor it likely works.
The problem is likely at the front differential. There is a vacuum actuator that has a cable that pulls on a lever which engages a clutch inside the differential tube.

This vacuum originates at the engine, goes to the transfer case. On the transfer case the is a vacuum switch which then directs the vacuum to the vacuum motor when 4x4 is called for.
You will need to check for vacuum at this motor which is located on the right front engine compartment down low. Tricky to get to but not impossible. Follow the cable from the right side of the differential if you can't locate it.

If no vacuum, trace it back to the leak. If no leak, the vacuum switch on the transfer case may be bad.
If vacuum is there, which I suspect it is, replace the vacuum motor and cable assembly.
There you are, if you have further questions, please ask me here.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have changed transfer case motor and push button and still wont go into 4wd

for this you need 2 people. one person gets inside and SLOWLY allows the vehicle to drive forward while another is crouched near the front drivers side wheel (assuming thats the side the shaft comes to the front axle), in 2WD, the front drive shaft should not be spinning. have them press 4X4 and then look for drive shaft rotation. if the shaft DOES spin, the problem is in your hubs. if it does not spin, the problem is in the transfer case or the circuit connecting the button to it. i'm not sure about the second part, but if it IS the hubs, the problem is more than likely a vacuum leak. (basing this off of an 03 f250 4x4, but its the same principle) there is a small rubber hose that connects near the wheel on the axle or near the axle. be sure not to confuse it with a brake line. find this line on each side and pull it off (replace afterward) and put your finger on the end and be sure there is a fair amount of suction when vehicle is running and 4x4 is engaged (recommend turning wheel all the way to one side or the other OR take it off entirely, but do not take it out of park obviously) if there is no suction or very weak suction, then there is a leak somewhere along the hose and it must be found and the offending part replaced.

1997 chevy Blazer ZR2 4x4 not engaging

Fab only gave part of an answer. Check the vacuum lines on the driverside firewall. Also check your heater/AC unit make sure the air deflector will change from defrost to vent. If it stays on defrost no matter where you put the knob then you have a disconnected or leaking vacuum line to the dash. If that works and you don't see any open hoses then remove the battery and battery tray. You'll find the actuator there. Remove the vaccum line that goes to it, connect the battery or jumper cables so that you can start the engine. Put it in 4HI and feel for a vacuum at the line. If you do then put it on the actuator and see if it pulls on the cable. If there is no vacuum at that line then the switch at the transfer is bad and isn't sending vacuum to the actuator. If you do have vacuum and the cable didn't pull then change the actuator.

96 s10 blazer 4x4 wont work lights flash on dash but shift transfree case put new motor on transfree case

Listen for the TCCM (transfer case control module) to "click" when 4X4 is activated behind passenger kicker panel just in front of passenger door near floorboard. If it clicks then is activating and with the new motor on transfer case that would make me think it has something to do with the 4X4 vacuum lines. If you look under the battery tray you will find the vacuum canister that activates the front hub when 4X4 is activated. take out ur battery and position it so you can still have it hooked up or with jumper cables and still see the canister and turn your truck on and engage 4X4 to see if vacuum canister activates to lock in front hub, if not just follow and check vacuum lines. Also check, ALL, fuses as there are many fuses that in my opinion are miss marked as with the logic side of TCCM is ran through the fuse marked for the Dome Light. Have also heard of parking lamps having something to do with it too... just a few suggestions from things I had to go through with mine
