1997 Dodge Grand Caravan heater blower makes clicking noise

Every time I start my van the heater blower under the dashboard makes a repetitive clicking noise. It goes: click, click, clunk...click, click, clunk...click, click, clunk. Then stops after 3 repetitions. The blower fan works fine otherwise. If I turn the heater off during a drive, it will do the same click, click, clunk noise. Of course, I'm appreciative that I have heat when I need it and the heater/blower appears to be working fine otherwise, but it's embarrassing to have people in my van have to listen to this. Any ideas on what's going on with this?

SOURCE: my front fan blower stopped working, the rear one works fine

I had the same problem. It was the blower motor resistor. To verify this, open the glove compartment and push in on the sides to release it from the dash. The resistor is right in front bolted into the duct with two screws (9mm Hex head) and their are two electrical harnesses connected, one with 5 wires and the other with 2 wires. To bypass the resistor, take a piece of wire and connect the plain dark blue wire to the black wire. If the blower comes on, the resistor is bad. Make sure that you have the fan on high to tell if it runs. The resistor should be in stock at a dealership and cost approximately $30. The Blower Motor Assembly costs about $90. Removal of the part is simple, disconnect the two harnesses and unbolt the two screws.

SOURCE: my van makes clicking noise when going uphill & and sometimes the speeds slows right down and makes noise (clicking under vehicle).

Could be front CV axles making that noise. Check out the rubber cv boots going from the transmission to the center of the front wheels, If the boots are ripped or cracked, replace the cv axles on both sides.

SOURCE: car won't start, light dim but headlights still on

I would start with getting your battery & altnator checked. remove them both and take them to the local parts house to be tested. The normally do this for free. The lack of power on the pedal is from a lack of voltage in the battery. If i was to guess i would say your Alt. is no longer charging the way it should.

SOURCE: Heater blower motor replacement -1997 Dodge Grand Caravan

Remove the cover plate on the passenger side of the heater box, 3-4 screws.
Unplug the motor assembly, remove 3-4 more screws that hold the motor in place and pull it down from its position. Get an aftermarket motor and installed it in the original housing with the original squirrel cage.
Installation is the reverse of removal.

I have a '03 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport AWD that the heater only blow hot air when going down the road. Van has a new radiator and new thermostat. Sometimes the blower will not kick on for a few

If the problem is a lack of air flow from the vents, and you suspect the blower motor is not running at times, you would need to test the blower relay and blower motor for power and ground when it is not working.

The noise of clicking keeps going. But than stops afterwhile..does.any dodge mechanic know what this is.?

2004 Dodge Caravan won't start...just a clicking noise...

Check the battery first. Just because the lights are on doesn't mean it has enough power to start the van. If you or the van has a volt meter, the battery should read at least 13-14 volts to be good. If the battery is good then the alternator is good and we move on to the starter solenoid. I'm sure it's one of these. Do the lights go off or very dim when you turn the key? If so then battery.

Trouble shooting blower motor on 1997 dodge gran caravan

Check the heat/ac relay first making sure it is working.remove it clean the contacts and reattach. Then check the Resistor component. It is usually located near the blower or on the blower motor itself. It is attached with a couple of screws and a plug between the blower motor and the wiring. Please vote if this helps you.
