I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The engine was recently replaced. This issues had not happened prior and the mechanic said it has nothing to do with the engine replacement. During the day I do not have my headlights on and the blinkers blink just fine and work normal. When I turn the headlights on the right headlight (when sitting in the truck) is very dim. the left headlight is nice and bright. When I turn the left blinker on.. no problems. It works great. When I turn the flashers on.. no problems it works great. When I turn the right blinker on it blinks very fast but does work. The front headlight/blinker/parking light fixture is very dim. When I turn the high beams on the left works great but the right is totally off. I appreciate any help. Frustrated... Chris
Seems like an Earth problem for the RH lights.
Grab a Jumper lead. Attach one end to a good earth (engine or Neg. Battery post).
Other end to the RH metal mud guard.
Old post.
such a simple classic problem.
the right ground is bad. (he probably loosened that sc-re-w and failed to put it back)
here is the exact spot, seen in the book, books are amazing no?
any shop in town with ASE , on arm.
can fix this, seems your motor swapper is not.
if you connect your meter (20vdc range)
black test lead to battery neg
HL on
and red lead to S152, its not 0v is it.?
my guess like 6v there. and HL are a 1/2 power.
that is because the ground path is bad. to G108 and S152 !
see those 4 red ticks, one is bad.
using a volt meter solves voltage drop.
done correctly
nodal analysis, 101. YMMV
YGMV, your grounds may vary... and G108 is shared with blinks.
ground =earth= power common minus.
There is a bad earth at the dim light, if there is a earth wire trace it back to where it is earthed to the frame make sure it is tight, if to hard to find may be easy to run a earth wire to the light.
just don't wire it to earth, lacking a 16' ground stake. lol

Try replacing all the turn signal bulbs when the flasher is faster than normal.

mporteous, It sounds like you have a light switch problem. I can't think of any other reason for the running lights and tail lights not working in this situation. Are your brake lights working when the headlights are off and how about when they are on? Do your four ways hazard lights work in these situations? Try all the lights under these conditions. The reason the left turn signal blinks very fast is because one of the bulbs are burned out. Try the left signal and one light (front or back) will stay on and the other will not come on at all. Replace the bulb that does nothing. Do this before you try all the lights in different situations. I think that you will have to replace the light switch. Good luck with this.
