Keep in mind that Traction Control applies the ABS to the individual wheel when it spins
too fast, slowing it down to the speed of the other wheels so that it
can gain traction.
All vehicles will slide in the snow. Traction control or not. What traction control does, in simple terms...Is when your wheel start to slip, which is detected by some sensors, it lowers the vehicles throttle position, slows the RPM's down, even if your foot is still on the gas, for a matter of seconds, until the wheels stop slipping. So when you feel or hear your vehicles engine slowing down on its own, its best to just let off the gas and let it go for a couple seconds. A way to test the traction control...From a stop, if you are in the snow, and you push the gas down a good bit, make it spin, and the vehicle should seem to power down on its own, while the light comes on, if it does not do this, then traction control would not be working. Hope this helped.
Does it come on while you are driving in these conditions? If so it is letting you know it is enabling the traction control, which means it is deciding how much power to let you have when you press on the gas.
Hi, Four wheel drive is a traction devise. Not a braking devise. So, no it will not help you stop faster. That said, on slippery conditions when you let off the gas the extra, "traction" will help slow you down if you do not slide. Hope this helps you out. Wayne
Engine light on means that your lambda probe is malfunctioning just raplace it and it will come off,or the mixture of gases and gas is not proper and you need to tune the car at bosch motronic.
traction control warning light means that the sensors analizing it are malfunctioning and or you have a serious problem on the traction control
There should be a button on the shifter to engage the traction control, it is a variation on abs where wheel speed in the drive wheels is monitored and brakes are used to slow down the faster moving one, which would probably indicate a loss of traction. Normal operating mode should be off, on for slippery or snowy weather.
you probably push air into the ABS unit when getting your lines replace but the Traction Control light might be on because the system might use the wheel speed sensor on the ABS unit to enable the Traction Control.......
One of the sensors at the wheels are not working right. Located on the backside of the spindle look for a wire running to a black plastic sensor. It's possible it might have a crack in it or they are just getting old. ABS- for panic stops if light is on you will have normal brakes. Traction control- for wheel spinning out or burn outs slows motor down so wheels get traction if light is on next time you stab the gas you will have a nice burn out. (Normal driver)
