Hi CJ-
For many years now, engine codes have been standardized throughout the automotive industry to ease in vehicle diagnostics-so these codes are the same regardless of the maker of your car.
I use a site "engine-codes.com", to look these up on line. This is an excellent site since it not explains the code, but also troubleshooting methods for mechanics to fix the problem. For ease of information, I have provided the links for the codes you listed.
It sounds as though you may have issues with your O2 (oxygen sensor) which monitors the combustion and emissions system in your car.
Though rates vary from shop to shop, this should not be a wallet busting repair if replacement is needed.

SOURCE: trouble codes p0597 and p0015 what they mean

po597 did not see poo15 is camshaft b position timing over retarded or performance problem bank 1. have pcm check sound like its in limp mode.

SOURCE: cost estimate - head gasket repair for 2002 subaru

We had a 96 outback blow it's gasket just last year, the radiator shop did a compression test to determine the extent of damage, just one cylinder, est cost was $1200, We said, holy cow!! That is just the one side, we got the car back to the house here and ordered us a new engine from ebay, japanese motors or something like that, the engine went it and worked perfectly, fired right up, smoked for a second, . No problem. I scrapped out the old engine and parts for a few hundred bucks , helped pay for the new engine. We figured by the time we get the head off with the engine still in the car, which is close to impossible, if not impossible, it's hard to change the spark plug let alone the head. then put it back together, with the new head bolts that they recommend, they cost $100, And we didn't know what was going to blow next, so we went for the engine. The engine was $900. No trips to the parts store, the only thing that didn't fit was the ac compressor, but that didn't matter, the car is living in Oregon right now and ac is the farthest thing from their minds. Hope this helps.

your o2 sensor is bad. vsc will go on for any small DTC displayed on the MIL (cel)

P0037 LEXUS P0037 LEXUS - Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 2 Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
Possible causes - Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit open shorted to ground
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit fuse
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) When is the code detected? The P0037 is set when the ECM detects an excessively low voltage through the heated oxygen sensor heater circuit P0037 LEXUS Description Oxygen Sensors (O2S) or Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) need to reach a minimum operating temperature of 750 degrees F to produce an accurate voltage signal. The faster the heated oxygen sensor reaches that temperature the faster the sensor will start sending an accurate signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

In order to achieve the require temperature, a heater element is included inside the heated oxygen sensor. The ECM controls the heated oxygen sensor heater element based on signals from the engine coolant temperature and engine load. The ECMcontrols the heater element circuit by allowing current flow to ground.

The ECM monitors the voltage signal received through the heater element circuit and determines the state of the circuit by comparing the voltage detected with the factory specifications.

not much its just an o2 sensor there getting cheaper all the time, i would say less then $150 at a shop.3 wire sensors are $47 to $55 bucks on line and take 10 min to change

I have a check engine light and the codes that come up are P0036 and P0037 what does that mean?

it is your rear O2 sensors, they monitor the cats and it does not affect the way the engine runs-that being said, you need to see if the harness is damaged going to the sensors, or more probable, a fuse for the heated element for the O2's is blown.
