Flashing Airbag Light Prior to Startup

Should the airbag light on my 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue flash repeatedly before going out, when I start it up? It is the only light on my dash that does this, the other lights do not flash. I only noticed this after having some repairs done a moth ago.

On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident.
The flashing light on your car is telling the answer you need. On some vehicles, the light is flashing a two digit code. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing.

Airbag light flashing.

The light will only quit flashing if there is no problem, So you must have a problem. Do this get to the diagnostic mode only this time count the flashes these are codes, it will look like this example a flash followed by Two fast flashes is code 12, Three long flashes followed by Three short or fast flashes is code 33. When you get the code use the testimonial to tell me what they are. It will show up in my email. I hope this helps. Take care.

Airbag sensor location in front bumper

Hello Edwin,

I doubt this is airbag related.

It sounds more like your charging system. In fact, I would suspect your alternator is failing.
You can get a free charging system load test at just about any auto parts store.

I hope this helps.

Air bag light is blinking

Guys! Are you readying your airbag system after messing around with your truck?

I've seen airbag lights come on for man reasons, faulty sensors, connections, replacing RADIOS! Removing seats!! All sorts of reasons. Personally I bought my QX56 with the airbag light blinking. Drove me crazy for 24 hours till I decided to reset it n see what happened. It takes two minutes to do. No tools.

1. Turn key from off to on. (on meaning all your dash lights are on but your not cranking the motor)

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

Air bag light always blinking?

Mine came on when my car hit 120K mi. I also reset it using a sequence within the car.

Problem Scenerio: turn car motor on, car conducts self test, during which time airbag light stays on for 5-second (or 5 or 6-beeps)..it turns off for a second then flashes 'off and on'...and annoys the hell out of you as you drive...especially at night.

Solution 1: put black electrical tape (band-aid) over airbag light indicator...annoying problem gone.

However, in VA the airbag light can't be flashing to pass the annual car inspection, so....

Solution 2: Reset the Airbag light using the following sequence I discovered and heard about:

1. Turn key / ignition to 'ON' (Do Not Start). and await for the self-testing procedure to end (Air Bag Light stays on for about 5-seconds or '6-beeps')
2. As soon as the Airbag light turns off - turn the ignition to OFF position and count 5-Mississippi's (that's 5-seconds).
3. Then turn ignition back to 'ON' Position and repeat step 1 & 2 again.

Conduct Steps 1 & 2 - Three times in a row.

After the 3rd or successful timed sequence, allow the car to go through it's complete self testing stage and as soon as its done the airbag light will flash...but at a slower pace (That is good!) That means the cpu is resetting. Once you observe the slow flashing airbag light, turn the car off, then start it normally and the airbag light 'should' reset (not flashing and bugging the **** out of you).

Then, take the black electrical tape off the dash panel and throw it away.

This is no joke and it really works!! if you have any questions, contact me. [email protected]

Beeping Sound in Ford Escort

there is a malfunction in the srs system.

the flashing airbag light is indicating a failurein the system and it is flashing a code.

the beeping is coming from the controll module, if the controller detects a malfunction in the airbag warning light than it will beep in place of flashing the light, this is to inform the driver of a air bag malfunction.

the light bulb may be bad or it may have a poor connection even if you saw the light on, the controller said there is a resistance issue in that circuit.

but you still need to have that system check to find out what started the malfunction and commanded the light on.

good luck

Why is airbag light on?

when the airbag light is on it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called th clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the wheel.

Airbag light

This is either a problem with one or both of your airbags or the airbag connector located at the back of the glovebox has been disconnected for some reason. (ie. to prevent airbag opening when installing baby seat) (1999 miata does not have a baby seat airbag disabling sensor).

You should get your car inspected at your local mazda service to check if this is a wiring (plug disconnected) issue or one of your airbags is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Flashing airbag light could indicate that either one of the airbags or both have a problem. Disconnecting the passenger's airbag has the same effect.

Warning! Do NOT attempt to do any kind of airbag/airbag wiring related repair yourself. Airbag problems should be addressed ONLY by certified technicians at your local Mazda service. (Airbag fixing requires for example that the car battery is disconnected, you MUST NOT attempt anything with the car battery connected).

Hope this helps.
