Electric seat will tilt back but cannot tilt back forwad
I have a 1990 911 Carrera 4 and the electric seat tilted back and I cannot get it to tilt back forward. Is there a way to manually tilt it forward? If not, is there a way to just change the switch?
Re: electric seat will tilt back but cannot tilt back...
I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE MANUALLY DO THAT. YOU MAY CHANGE SWITCH TO OTHER WORKING SWITCH. THAN IT DOES NOT WORKING YOU MAY HAVE PROBLEM WITH MOTOR.
I HAVE 1990 C4 SAME PROBLEM. BUT I CHANGED MOTOR IT WORK.

I'm assuming it is the front seats you are removing. There is two systems used to mount front seats, 4 bolt and 2 bolt. Both are easy to deal with. I think the Malibu uses the 2 bolt setup.
Slide the seat all the way forward and look at the rear end of the two runner grooves. There will be a bolt in each runner going down into the floor. It has a star shaped hole in the head. This is a 'Torx' head bolt, either a T40 or T45 size. Remove these bolts. You will probably need to unbolt the seatbelt mount on the floor as well. Tilt the entire seat forward and carefully unclip the electrical wire that is underneath the seat. While it is tilted forward pull the entire seat backwards. It should unhook at the front and lift out.
These seats are very heavy so be careful when lifting them out. Fitting is the opposite to this. Tilt the seat forward and hook in the front ends, connect the wire underneath, lower the rear end and bolt it down.
The four bolt system has two bolts at the front end of the rails instead of the two hooks.
The electric motors that powered your seat to make it move in those different ways has now died so what you need to do is replace your electric motors underneath your seat and it will be working properly again
most seats have the capacity to tilt back to some degree depending on the space available behind it . There should be a lever that allows this on the side of the seat back
YOU HAVE A SWITCH OR A TILT ACTUATOR MOTOR PROBLEM. LINCOLNS HAVE 5 OR 6 ELECTRIC MOTORS MOUNTED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF EACH FRONT SEAT WHICH REQUIRES REMOVING THE SEAT TO INSPECT .THEIR ARE ALSO CABLES ATTATCHED TO THESE MOTORS SO LISTEN WHEN YOU HIT THE TILT SWITCH DO YOU HEAR A MOTOR NOISE? IF YOU DO THEN YOU MAY HAVE A BAD CABLE.
Hi, follow the instruction below...... Rear See Figures 3, 4, 5 and 6

To install:
Install the lower seat cushion and torque the lower rear seat-to-chassis bolts to 15-20 ft. lbs. (21-26 Nm).
Install the upper rear seat back cushion and torque the upper rear seat back-to-chassis bolts to 15-20 ft. lbs. (21-26 Nm)
yes, usual you will find coins or something lodged in the treaded bar on the seat motor, if not water damage can corrode the bar, check the bar as it goes in and out. ( rate me )
