Sounds like a wiring loom connector may have come apart as affecting all rear lighting trace loom back from light cluster to see if all are connected properly

Where is the wiring loom connector located?

  • steve Jun 04, 2015

the wiring loom(s) will be located behind the side panels in the rear of the vehicle , gain access to each rear light cluster from rear , as though you were changing a bulb, then trace where the wiring goes and when you get to a connector make sure it is pushed fully home , it would also be a good idea to check for power at the same time with a volt meter whilst having some one operate the affected lights, if you have power then it must be a component fault, hope this helps

SOURCE: 2002 ford taurus tail lights are not

You have a bad connector or wire. Use a multimeter to check the wire and connectors from both lights. My bet is on the wire.

Go the cheapest way first..... Replace both bulbs. It may be that both bulbs went out relatively at the same time

Tail lights and brake lights not working - not fuse - what can it be?

Brake light switch, located on upper brake pedal should be checked, that is most likely your brake light issue, but U say tail lights aren't working, but running lights do, tail lights and running lights I would consider to be the same, so can u clarify that for me? Let me know how the u do w/ brake light switch, and if u have issue w/ tail lights?
