Car quit running at red light

Car would cut off pulling up to stop sign, at first few times i could re crank it and it continue to run. however after this has happened a few times and sometimes having to wait 12 to 24 hours to get the car to start and stay running, it has now quit running all together. it sounds like its about to start running and staying running every now and then but it doesnt it will just die out again.

Tj, I dont think red light has anything to do with the car to stop running. It could be anything from regular service to tune up to weak battery. Since it has stalled on you several times, I suggest you have a mechanic look into it. Plus it must have high mileage and needs TLC.

Your no start condition is either lack of fuel(doubtful since it used to restart) or no spark. No spark could be from a failed crankshaft or camshaft sensor.

SOURCE: check engine light stays on

Just a suggestion, take it to an auto parts place that will perform a free diagnostic check (O'Reilly, NAPA, etc. usually do them free), they can read the code, and tell you what is wrong.... you can go from there as to a plan of auction. Good luck.

SOURCE: i have a 1994 toyota camry and while driving the engine dies off, then after i stop a few minutes later it starts then i can drive off again

It does sound like fuel pressure is low or intermittent. Here are some check procedures p172 on

Is the check engine light showing a trouble code on the instrument panel? That may pin the trouble down.

When i first crank the car it idles at like three or so then goes to zero and cuts of it does this a few times especially if i push the brake, i have learned to rev engine lightly and press brake and put...

Might be a leak on your brake booster (this will most probable give you a hard brake pedal or a "sucking sound " when applying brakes) also check the vacumm pipe from the engine to the brake booster. It might have a leak, so when you press the brakes it influences the air mixture.

1989 for tempo starts fine but after idling for a few minutes will quit. Will stall when you pull up to a stop sign. Have to keep the engine revved up to keep it running. The check engine light comes on...

hi,

its time for new fuel filter, new fuel injectors, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor. the engine in the tempo is a good one and if you take care of it that car should last quite a while longer..

Someone please help!!!! I have a 2000 buick

A cam sensor only helps the computer when cranking and should not make it cut off. Most cam sensors do not go bad, but he magnet on the timing gear will deterorate. To fix that the timing cover will have to come off. Replace the crank sensor they get hot and stop working. When they cool down they will work again until it gets hot.
