Are the cooling fans coming on ? Go under the hood in the engine compartment , with the vehicle running have some one turn on the A/C , do you see and or hear the cooling fans come on ? Could be the coolant temperature gauge is bad ! How many miles on the vehicle ? Ever have water pump replaced ?

What cause of overheat from engine

an engine will overheat if the rad cooling fan is not working, this will have to be check to see if its the fan motor, the fan relay. low coolant level, top up coolant check for leaks. could be head gasket problem, bad water pump(impeller worn).

Check engine comes in when engine starts to overheat, which it does in slow traffic. Radiator, fans, water pump are OK.

Did you check/replace the thermostat? Another possible cause may be hair line cracks in the head(s).

Overheats when driven,no heat

Verify you have coolant - look at the plastic reservoir to see if the level is OK. If the level is OK, when the engine is cold, take off the radiator cap and verify the radiator is full. If these steps are good, then you have a bad thermostat or water pump.

Overheat, engine will automatically stop, low charging on battery.

SOUND LIKE BAD WATER PUMP.IF BATTERY LOW CHARGE LIGHT ON WATER PUMP BEARING COULD BE LOCKING UP DRAGGING DRIVE BELT DOWN ENOUGH TO SLOW DOWN ALTERNATOR TO KEEP BATTERY FROM CHARGING.REPLACE WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL SEE IF ANTIFREEZE IN RADIATOR IS LOW. IF SO FILL COOLANT SYSTEM BACK TO NORMAL LEVEL SEE IF WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAKING WHILE ENGINE RUNNING IF SO WATER PUMP IS BAD.

1997 polo overheats even after removing thermostat

On a water cooled engine... the impeller on the water pump is no longer working correctly. It has probably come loose from the input shaft and is no longer pumping water. You can prove this on a warm engine by filling the radiator to the top and then accelerating / decelerating the engine... if you don't get a change in the water level the water pump is shot.

Dodge Neon 1998 DOHC Overheats when off the accelerator

It sounds like your coolant level may be too low. When you drive up hill the coolant will tend to flow into your engine block and help to cool it down. When you drive down hill the coolant will tend to flow out of the engine block and into the radiator. This may allow the engine block to overheat. I recommend checking your coolant level. If you need to add coolant use a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze. If your coolant level is low you may have a leak. Look for the leak while the engine is hot.

I'd also check to make sure your electric cooling fan is working. Let the engine warm up with the car idling in park. Watch to see if the fan ever turns on. If the fan doesn't turn on the problem could be caused by the fan itself, a fan relay, or a temperature sensor.

Car overheats at idle, ok when at speed

You will need to Change your Thermostat. A bad Thermostat will cause the Overheat Problem as Stated above. Also, Check you Coolant Level, and see if the Water Pump is Pumping Water through the Radiator. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help that I can Get! Thanks!
