I just want to find an accurate and complete list of codes for my 98 Cherokee Classic 4.0 liter 2wd. Just installed ScanGuageII reader and get codes P0700, P0705, P0463. Only P0463 is in the Chilton manual...

Hi, you can see a full list of Jeep DTCs here: http://jsautosource.com/factory-manuals/dtc-definitions/full-list-of-all-definitions-for-dodge-chrystler-jeep-dtc-codes/
Your engine light will probably return immediately after clearing the codes until the P0700 is rectified. The 705 indicates your range sensor is out of adjustment or broken. The range sensor is mounted to the side of the transmission where the cable attaches. It may be adjustable. Normally, when the range sensor fails, the starter will not turn, because the sensor provides the park/neutral safety interlock to ensure the transmission is not in gear. Also, the range sensor usually includes the backup light switch. I usually adjust the sensor by putting the transmission in reverse, turning the key on, loosening the switch, and rotating it until the backup lights come on. Please let me know if you have questions and thanks for using FixYa.

Got check engine light , vsc trac, and vsc off sensors. pepboys gave me scanned codes: po500 vehicle speed sensor and code po705 transmission range sensor/switch circuit malfunction. problems are:...

The VSC and trac will shut off with a P0500 or P0705 code, so diagnose those first. You left out year and engine, so we can't look up most common failures.

Check engine light car feels like its in high gear

The problem is most likely a PNP(shift position switch) problem. When this happens, the trans goes into limp home mode. The trans goes into high gear and doesn't allow any shifting up or down. This is to protect the trans.

Speedometer stopped working 2. Door locks problems 3. Check Engine Light 4. Gear Shift Indicator lights stopped working 5. Engine revs high past 35mph on 1995 GMC SIERRA Truck

you need to scan this truck if you have a vss input to the computer then you have a bad trans or a bad vss sensor if no input you should also check the trans range sensor with the scan tool

Trans range sensor circuit malfunction

Transaxle Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input).

Check for: _ Possibly a connector near the shift lever has come loose/dirty contacts, or there is a broken wire from it somewhere going to the TCM
- Corroded or faulty Range Switch. - Open between Meter Fuse and Range Switch (C136-4).
- Open between Range Switch (C136) and TCM (C229) on one or more circuits.
- Short to Battery between Range Switch (C136) and TCM (C229) on one or more circuits.
- Short between two or more wires between Range Switch (C136) and TCM (C229).

If Meter Fuse is blown, repair any shorts in the Meter Fuse circuit.

P1624 MIL Request Signal from TCM to ECM.This is only a request from TCM to ECM to turn the MIL on. The fault code is stored in the TCM.The Freeze Frame Data is stored in the ECM under the P1624 request code. Be sure to retrieve freeze frame data before clearing code P1624 from ECM.
TCM = Transmission control module
ECM = Engine control module (or more commonly known as ECU)
MIL = Malfunction indicator light (more commonly "check engine light" or CEL)

Good luck and hope this helps

Check egine light

the transmision range sensor is the problem basically when it is faulty it sends false gear signals to the ecu the ecu gets the trouble code from the trans ecu and you r trans goes into fail safe mode causing it to only operate in third gear which would cause the very slow acceleration where it seems like its in nuetral basically you need to replace your trans range sensor
