SOURCE: 1992 ford ranger 3.0

i was once pulling a trailer with a ranger when it suddenly lost power and the engine died. turns out the problem was with the fuel shut off inertia switch. the switch is supposed to activate in case of accident. on my model the inertia switch is located in the passenger side under the glove box. dont know where yours is located. once you find it, just push the button and see if it resets. good luck.

SOURCE: 1993 Ford Festiva Engine won't stay running

Just a little suggestion. IF this is a 1993 it is fuel injected.the car starts and runs for a few seconds and then dies. You are on the right track by checking the spark and fuel delivery. If you have both of these when it dies i would check injector pulse. the use of a noid light would be the quickes method. They can be purched at the parts house for pretty cheep. If you have no injector pulse then it cuts the fuel off to the engine.Replace the ignition module (contols spark and injector pulse) i have ran across a few that will lose only one of the outputs, insted of both of them. Now if you have fuel and fire, i would check to see if the cat. converter is damaged or cloged thus restricting the exhaust and stalling the engine. Hope this helpes.

My 1991 ford festiva wont crank replaced fuel pump and screen and fuel filter and fuel pump relay still wont crank and we have pushed the reset button what now help pls

Won't crank? Problem is with starter-have it tested.
If it cranks and won't start, check for spark at one of the spark plug wires. If no spark when the engine is cranking, the ignition circuit is the problem.

Car won' start, battery is ok, antifreeze is low but not out could this be the problem?

No. it wouldn't keep it from starting. If the engine cranks but won't start, probably gas or spark (ignition) related. Do you hear the fuel pump in the tank turn on for a couple of seconds, when turning key to on, not start? If you cannot hear the pump, better check if you are getting gas up to the engine. Maybe the fuel pump quit, or the pump circuit needs looked at. The pump should briefly turn on with key on to pressurize the fuel system-the fuel line and the fuel rail where the injectors are. Then the pump will turn off, and only come back on again when the engine is cranking, and stay on when running.
Correct fuel pressure is important for easy starting, and good engine performance. Have the fuel pressure checked against the specification for your vehicle. If fuel pressure is good, check the ignition system-check for spark.

My car sat idle for about a month but I had a friend start it occasionally to keep the battery up and running. One day the engine would not turn over when he tried to start it up. The lights come on like...

yeah, try starter fluid just to verify if it;s fuel or spark related. If it starts or tries to, then it's a fuel problem. You should be able to hear your pump turn on, when you turn key on, may need to stand by tank, when someone turns key on. it should activate for about 2 seconds, with key on.(that's to pressurize your system with gas) then when cranking, the pump should run(may not hear it then-so just listen when key is initially turned on. No noise: your pump may not be working. If you can hear the pump, it may be another issue.

Car runs but as soon as I turn it off it doesnt turn back on.

Hello, when you have this sort of problem, what you have to do is determine if it is fuel or ignition related. It could be either or both. If you have a carburetor, you can check to see if the accelerator pump is squirting fuel into the carb body when you actuate the throttle. This signifies that the bowl is full and fuel is getting to the carb. If its not, you know its a fuel problem (stuck float, needle valve, bad fuel pump, etc). Sometimes intermittent fuel pump problems occur due to an electrical short in the fuel line to the pump in the tank (for fuel injected models). On carb equipped models the fuel pump runs off of the cam on the back top side of the engine. You could put a fuel pressure guage on it to see if you are getting the proper 33.6 psi. If not, that would indicate an underperforming fuel pump.
On the Festivas, its common that the wire going to the distributor becomes frayed or insulation cracked and it can cause intermittent spark problems. This is why when the car won't start, you need to check immediately if there is good spark or not with a spark tester. If spark is good, check the fuel pressure when cranking. Another thing you can do is spray 'starting fluid' in the carb or intake to see if that makes the car start or try to fire. If it does, you will know that you have found the problem and its fuel related.

1993 ford escort cranks but does not start.

get a bottle of quick start have someone to help you and spay in the intake manifold and same time crank the car try to start if start then you have fuel problem fuel filter or fuel pump, if it start for few sec then it shuts of then you have spark problem spark plugs or wires thas it with that car. To check the spark take of spark plug pu the wire to the spark plug where it goes but with spark plug out take a dry cloth hold wire bring the sprk plug close to the engine dont touch the engine 5 milimiters distance have some one to cranck it 2-3 sec and you see if the spark is throwing power, do that with each spark plug put back after you try one than take the other one out hope this helps you out.
