Sounds like the strut spring may be turning within its mounting brackets when the wheel assembly is turning. If so it will make different kinds of noise when it turns. This usually occurs when the spring has weakened or the the rubber seats are worn out.
The sound could be a weathered leaf spring that is making noise when the suspension travels up and down. You can go to a self car wash and use the pressure washer there to spray the undercarriage down blowing out any loose dirt and gravel from the rear springs and then when it has dried put a little bit of wd40 onto the leaf springs where they meet or if its an independent suspension where the coil meets with another at the top and bottom then drive to see if it goes away. If it does then it would be a good idea to look into replacing the springs as they are most likely worn.
the noise should change or go away when you turn the wheel to the right or left. if it does it sounds like you have a bad wheel bearing. Typically if you turn to the left and it gets louder its the right side if you turn to the right and it gets louder its the left side. Or if you turn to the right and it goes away its the right side and if it goes away when turning to the left it is the left side.
Another thing you can do is safely jack up the front of the vehicle. With the transmission in neutral rotate each wheel by hand while holding onto the strut spring with your other hand. You should be able to feel the noise you hear in the strut spring if it is the bearing.
Wheel bearing. A wheel bearing will make that noise when load is put on it. Changing the direction of travel could make it louder, or it could go away. Change the wheel bearings.
Sounds like one of the springs that hold the rear brakes in place broke. Jack her up, pop off the tire, remove the drum and take a look. If you need to see what a good one looks like, look on the other side.

Thats bad, if it really is the trans. When wheels are up in the air, put the car in gear, and grab the coil spring. If a wheel bearing is bad, you will feel the vibrations through the spring. If you compare right and left, you will be able to tell which wheel bearing is bad.
you have a bad front wheel bearing..jack up front of vehicle..put in neutral..block rear wheels..put 1 hand on front coil spring and rotate wheel..you will feel roughness in spring on side that wheel bearing is bad
