You're going to have to shimmy up underneath and guide the dipstick tube back in and fasten at least one of the screws temporarily so you don't pull it out again. Its fairly easy and you shouldn't even need a jack due to the standing height of the 1500, I'm fairly broad around the chest and shoulders and i can get under my 94 which is the the same basic body stye quite easily with no jack to put back in my pesky neutral safety switch plug that occasionally likes to wiggle out

just drop the transmission pan to drain it and the filter is right there in the valve body,DON'T mess the band adjustment, they are only to stop the planetary gears so you can go into reverse, there is no such thing as adjusting bands! that went out with the fifties!

SOURCE: where is the Transmission fluid dip stick to add

Hello and Welcome to Fixya,
Very sorry Sir, as far as I know. The Dip stick is not included in this model. The transmission fluid must be checked only by the professionals at the dealership's place using special tools for the job (so that the unit shouldn't be over runned by the user and for long life safety of the engine). You should contact the dealer near your place for the completion of the job!

SOURCE: Replaced front seal on my '97 Dodge Ram 1500, V6

Assembly of converter to trans and then tunit to engine? The torque converter must engage and slide into the front pump. The seal is easily damamaged if not properly fitted.Once the trans is against the engine the converter can be slid forward to bolt the flex plste. There should not be more than approx. 1/4 inch between the converter and trans bell housing if the converter is properly mated to the trans. Good Luck, Ned.

2001 Dodge Magnum 1500 with 3.9 v-6, 5 speed manual transmission won't come out of reverse after replacing the clutch, pressure plate and the throw out bearing..

magnum? a RAM 1500 pickup, i guess magnum is engine jargon?
well it is not really stuck in reverse (well unless is. blush)
but 99%^ of the time that means the clutch is 100% dead.
learn this trick
have a buddy wiggle the truck on say flat garage floor, (no brakes set)
jug it forward and reverse the whole car and you wiggle the shift lever to N
see it does N.
the box has hard cut gears and synchro dogs. and if under pressure huge
the shifter level sticks. all manuals do that, with a dead clutch.
can do it.
do not gorrilla the shift lever or wreck the gear dog forks inside. box.
fix the clutch.

the clutch actuator is dead,. never replace any clutch first
gee my 4wd is 15 hard hours labor to that and I never do , unless MUST/
the best plan on any 22 year old car/clutch is a
new master cylinder and slave kit. first
and learn now to bleed, clutch lines, that are a horror to do .
ok? the fluid in the lines run up/down verically
and the air bubble float up,. making bleeding super hard and confusing to many
. there are tools that make this easy , Pressure bleeding kits.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/dodge,2001,ram+1500+pickup,3.9l+v6,1366578,transmission-manual,clutch+master+&+slave+cylinder+assembly,10290

we make sure this is working first. 100% full stroke or the clutch is useless.
and locked up fully engaged.
at the least it must be bled fully. off all air.

Is 7 quarts of transmission fluid too much for an 05 ram 5.7 hemi engine?

Is your trans an auto trans? If so, you should have the 45rfe trans which would take 5-7 quarts to refill after a filter change.

Use only Chrysler or Valvoline ATF+4 fluid.

2005 Dodge Ram 1500 I was driving and trans just quit.Changed trans filters and fluid checked for codes no codes and it still does not move. Truck only has 50,000 miles on it.

The Flex Plate, to which the torque converter is mounted, may have come uncoupled from the crankshaft through cracking or missing bolts. The transmission fluid pump may have failed. Some component in the driveline to the rear end may have failed. If this is an electrically controlled transmission, the computer controlling it may have failed or an electrical plug may be loose. If nothing obvious, you may need to seek help from a transmission professional. Good luck!

My 2001 dodge ram 1500 with 5.2L sometimes slips in overdrive. what could be causing it

Assuming its an automatic. Check the Transmission fluid first and foremost. Follow the instructions on the dip stick. If the fluid turns out alright then sorry to say but the clutch plates inside the transmission are going out. Transmission fluid could smell burnt. I had a 2000 ram and at 82000 miles thats when it started doing the same thing. I drove it til it wouldn't move forward or back.

1999 ddodge 1500 360 transmission and brake light

red brake light on, low fluid in resovior or park swicth is grd , trans light is on but you didnt say if it's trans or eng over heating, I wil assume it's trans, chech fiter in pan and cooler flow, possible restriction, remove rear cooler line to back of trans left side , stick a hose on it, put trans in nuetral, and start eng , should empty the fluid of trans in about 1 minute, nice good flow, jaust a trickle and you have a blocked cooler or lines. GOOD LUCK RDJRP

1996 Dodge Ram Transmission shifting problem

I had the same problem with my 96 Ram 1500. I thought I was going to have to pull it out and get it rebuilt or just replace it. That was at 134,000Km it's now got 210,000 and shifting like a dream. What I did to solve the problem was this, as follows:
1. No lucas transmission Fix makes things worse.
2. Get your self a new transmission filter and gasket
3. Grab Gunk transmission medic 12oz
4. Grab 7 Liters of Valvoline ATF+4 transmission fluid (Made for chrysler transmissions)
5. Drop the trans pan and drain all the oil, clean pan and magnet
6. start truck for 5 seconds and the pump will pour out another 1 liter
7. re-install filter, gasket and pan, then add your Valvoline ATF+4
8. Add, the valvoline, transmission medic and make sure you have the right level of fluid

That solved my transmission problems, instantly it was shifting better, I no longer had to let off the gas to make it shift. Now if you have large pieces of metal on the magnet, and it's totally covered in filings, you might want to consider rebuilding the trans. My magnet had usual clutch.

Anyhow good luck, let me know if it did the trick for you.
