Have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, V-8 Magnum. Transmission stick along with dipstickcase, found to be loose and free of screws. Tried to replace it to pour in trans fluid put having difficulties. This is a newly replaced transmission and fluid leaks under passenger side front. How can I pour the fluid into the trans if stick is out of sync?
You're going to have to shimmy up underneath and guide the dipstick tube back in and fasten at least one of the screws temporarily so you don't pull it out again. Its fairly easy and you shouldn't even need a jack due to the standing height of the 1500, I'm fairly broad around the chest and shoulders and i can get under my 94 which is the the same basic body stye quite easily with no jack to put back in my pesky neutral safety switch plug that occasionally likes to wiggle out

IS IT ATF OR GEAR LUBE?? IF ITS GEAR LUBE IS TUBE SEALS IN THE AXLES & THAT WOULD NOT BE RELATED TO THE FRONT DRIVESHAFT U-JOINTS IF ITS ATF( IM ASSUMING ITS AN AUTOMATIC TRANS) I WOULD GUESS A COOLER LINE & THATS NOT RELATED EITHER

just drop the transmission pan to drain it and the filter is right there in the valve body,DON'T mess the band adjustment, they are only to stop the planetary gears so you can go into reverse, there is no such thing as adjusting bands! that went out with the fifties!
SOURCE: where is the Transmission fluid dip stick to add
Hello and Welcome to Fixya,
Very sorry Sir, as far as I know. The Dip stick is not included in this model. The transmission fluid must be checked only by the professionals at the dealership's place using special tools for the job (so that the unit shouldn't be over runned by the user and for long life safety of the engine).
You should contact the dealer near your place for the completion of the job!

SOURCE: Replaced front seal on my '97 Dodge Ram 1500, V6
Assembly of converter to trans and then tunit to engine? The torque converter must engage and slide into the front pump. The seal is easily damamaged if not properly fitted.Once the trans is against the engine the converter can be slid forward to bolt the flex plste. There should not be more than approx. 1/4 inch between the converter and trans bell housing if the converter is properly mated to the trans. Good Luck, Ned.
