My key while in the ignition won't turn over or start car, warning light with car and a key in it flashes. What is the problem? Car is 2001 Mazada Tribute.

The key is tied to the computer which controls the engine. Apparently the key you are using needs to be reprogrammed to the computer. The dealer can do this for you.

It is a warning light that in some cars needs to be reset, it is cause by a short detected in the system notifying you that maybe someone try to jump something in the car, when changing the battery a light short normally happens and being this about
Hi, on most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for at 6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. <b>This is a little easier</b>
To reset the light simply turn the iginition to the on position, (you dont need to start it). All the lights should stay on for thier diagnostic check. As soon as the airbag light goes off, before it starts flashing, immeditatly turn the car off. Repeat this 3 or 4 times (turning to on then off) and the light should go away
check the ground leg to your engine.. it runs off the neg. battery terminal. will connect to frame and engine.. pull it off, wire brush it put it back.. you radio will work, 'cause it draws much less current, and is grounded in dash.
Turn the ignition key to on position, but do not start the vehicle. Wait for the "change oil light" to come on Tap the throttle pedal three times quickly Wait for the light to flash several times, then go out. Start the car and drive and it won't come back on.
It usually works the first time, but repeat if light stays on.
you can not bypass the security in that car, it is built into the main computer, they have problems with the ignition switch screwing up and the only way to start it while the light flashes is to turn the key to ON but don't crank engine, leave on for 10 to 15 minutes until light goes out then start car.
MAKE SURE YOU USING THE RIGHT KEYS. TRY ANOTHER IGNITION KEY.PLACE KEY IN THE SWITCH. TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO ON POSITION UNTIL IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES FOR 2 TO 3 SECONDS. IF IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES FOR 2 TO 3 SECONDS THEN FLASHES RAPIDLY.KEY CODE NOT RECOGNIZED.REMOVE KEY AND TRY AGAIN. IF ALL FAILS TAKE CAR TO DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE TO USE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO FIX CAR.PROBLEM COULD BE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH,BCM,FAULT IN THE ECM OR IMMOBILIZER CODE INCORRECT.
