Overheat Hi Sir, my Toyota Corolla over heats after about 15km. I have replaced the thermostat, flushed the engine and radiator. I have added new coolant. And checked for leaks, all is ok. When my gauge rises to 3/4 what I do is switch heater to max and fan on max then the temperature declines to normal. Any suggestions. Thank you in advance.

With due apologize I do not know about the model year, engine code and other specs of your car. But check the following to solve the problem.
- Check Tire inflation.
- Check the clutch and pressure plate (if manual transmission).
- Check the accuracy of temperature sending gauge. (the fan should automatically start when the temperature gauge reads center position position on the combination meter.
- Check the radiator fan air flow, throw pressure and fan direction (should throw the air inside towards the engine).
- Check radiator cap and reservoir for air leaks. Perform cooling system pressure test.
- Check all the radiator hoses for firmness. Any scale or coolant color can reveal the leakage.
- Re torque all the cylinder head bolts a little more.
- Check color of engine oil. If the color is seen brown or excessive pressure is built inside the cooling system, due to the exhaust gases released into the cooling system, the cylinder head gasket is burnt. If so replace the gasket and surface grind the cylinder head with a surface grinding machine.

1994 Toyota Camry,New water pump, new radiator, but car is over heating and missing,it smokes from the radiator when I stop....

Did you replace the thermostat? How long does it take to overheat? Is there water coming out of the tailpipe? Do you have to keep adding water to the radiator?

Sounds like a blown head gasket from the engine miss. Pull the spark plugs, if any of them are kind of a bleached white on the electrode then you've got water in that cylinder and either a blown head gasket, cracked head/block, or a combination of those.

Good Luck!

Suburban overheats while driving but cools while stopped. Heat works very good

the flushing of the radiator did nothing as it only cleans out the already open cores but the blocked cores are still blocked. Fit a new radiator and possibly the bottom radiator hose as it may be sucking in as well restricting the flow of coolant from a partially blocked radiator cores.

Drained radiator added prestone Radiator flush refilled and started overheating, drained radiator replaced thermostat and now I get no heat from heater,Radiator water is hot

disconnect the heat hoses going into fire wall , put hose into one with pressure and flush as it sounds like it could be bloked in the heater core, the other thing that could be the problem be the hot ,cold switch as it restricts the flow to makes the heater hoter or colder , it might need tlc or replacing as it is manaul not elec

What is the possible response to a 1991 Toyota Corolla that has the tendency to overheat. Gaskets are new and it just had repair work done within the last two days. Sensor has been changed. Timing has been...

You either need a new thermostat or the water pump impeller is worn out, this is if the rad fan is working,if the rad fan is not working then you likely need a coolant sensor or a rad fan relay.the water pump impeller is not a serviceable part ,so of it is worn you will need to replace the pump.

It really does overheat a lot when in traffic.

You need to check youe water pump, thermostat and your radiator cap and if all of that is good it sounds like a blown headgasket.

How difficult to replace 1995 Toyota Corolla radiator/thermostat

You can replace the radiator yourself, but why do you need to? The thermostat is on the engine. Follow the large hose that goes to the engine block....not the water pump. The thermostat is under that or sits on the top of the engine....looking for a pic for you!

the drain plug is on the bottom of the radiator, simply follow top radiator hose to the engine at the end should be your thermostat which is definitely causing the over heating
