Completely random, could be shortly after leaving home, so engine running 10 minutes, or may not happen until i've been on the road for an hour. May commute the full drive home (about an hour) & it won't happen. my mechanic is stumped

And it has no fault codes showing when you scan the system with a OBD2 scan tool?

Autozone does the test for free except in California.

The dealer has a tool that can record what is causing the engine to stall, at this point I have no other suggestions than have the dealer try and find the problem. OR drive it to CA and let me have it for a week or so.

Also this may be covered under your emission warranty up to 70,000 miles.

SOURCE: when it rains, my 2004 dodge durango hesitates and

I had the same problem. Same year, too. 2004 4.7L Durango. Took it to a Dodge Dealer in Oak Lawn, IL. Problem was when it rained out water got into the engine from the hood by the windshield wipers. The spark plugs got all wet causing the engine to hesitate and shake. I had to have a water dam installed and never had anymore problems. Hope this helps you out.

SOURCE: Engine warning light on Mazda MPV 2002

There seem to be 4 sensors along the way in the air intake and emissions system.

My Check Engine light indicated a bad sensor 1, bank 2 code (I think).

I had my mechanic replace the sensor that was indicated as faulty... cost = $191.

Then the Check Engine light came on again (with a different code), and I had to leave the van with him all day.

Cost to replace and install that sensor = $115.

My advice: if the Check Engine light stays on *AND* your vehicle is riding rough, get it fixed.

Otherwise, put a piece of tape over that Check Engine light and save a couple hundred dollars!

Hope this helps, I do trust my mechanic fully.

Testimonial: "Thanks for taking the time to post your advice re my MPV problem. Although not a definitive solution, it's certainly good advice."

SOURCE: code po705= Transmission range sensor, circuit

i ve run into this problem a few times, with no cler results,i checked all wiring from computer to switch and all check out fine i also replaced switch and a month later same code, this one ended up with a bad pcm, another one had a bad wiring for overdrive switch, this was not an easy repair to diagnose.i think you should have amazda dealer look at it.

1995 dodge Dakota 5.2 v8. Will die for no reason may start and run but not long. I have replaced fuel pump coil new plugs and wires and map sensor? ????

Dakotas are notorious for this issue, and it doesn't seem to matter what engine they have. They have a tendency to have the crankshaft position sensor intermittently fail. This causes the engine to shut off without warning as though you turned the key off. Sometimes they restart immediately, but they often need anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple of hours to work again. They often do not set a Check Engine Code. The sensor is relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to change. It is a better option that "Easter egging" sensor after sensor, only to have no joy.

1999 dodge dakota sport 3.9 v-6 just stops running while driving?

Probably some sensor is failing. Have your engine codes scanned. many auto part stores will scan your vehicle codes.

I was actually driving a 2000 dakota QC w/a V6 that just shut down & as I pulled over somewhat off the road it showing the no BuS . it would not start again

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

2001 dodge dakota engine light stays on can not get it off

You will need scanned the PCM to know exactlyy what "warning"fault code is stored there; with this code number could send details to solve and turn off. Some sensor is failed.

Keep us updated.
