I changed head and cam om a 1989 honda civic lx.now it runs rough. whats the problem?

I was driving the car when the camshaft broke in half. I replaced the head and cam set the timing and got the car running. but now it runs real rough. what do I do next?

Check for missing vacuum hoses. run fault codes to check for wires not properly connected . Have a compression test done as broken timing belts generally bend valves . IT may not be noticeable but will be enough to affect the engine performance.

camshafts do not normally break in half unless they are not properly aligned in the support bushes in the head. This occurs when a head is machined to remove warpage and the cam shaft bearing supports are not line bored or shimmed correctly to relign the shaft from the head maching.

Did you triple check that your timing was correct and that none of the pistons where damaged since that is an interference engine, meaning that f the timing belt breaks or in your case the cam broke (other half stopped moving), the piston may have ran into the valve causing damage to the valve and possibly the piston.

1986 honda 1.5 fuel injec. the camshaft broke inhalf between no.1cyl.and no.2cyl. How did this happen?

If the engine is original, it could be from old age. The camshaft could have been cracked for many months before finally breaking.
One of the cam bearings may have seized up from lack of oil.
One of the valves may have stuck or broke and jammed the cam lobe.

89 honda civic lx overheating

Thats my guess, one hose leak, two head gasket, three, crack in head somewhere. Of course make sure the thermastat is working. If it is seized thats a problem to. If you get the head off make sure it is resurfaced before you install the head gasket. Good luck

Sheared camshaft sprocket key, sprocket turns freely.

One psooibility to this is that there was insufficient oil going to the cam bearings and the camshaft seized. The oil galleries in the head could be plugged therefore not supplying oil to the cam bearings.
There is a posibility that the valves are not bent but you would have to check them carefully. that could be checked out when thw head is machined because if the cam seized you'll have to take the head off and have it serviced.( cam bearing seats machined and oil galleries cleared. Hope this helps you out
