Code P0741 is showing up as the cause of my check engine light. It is a 1996 Eldorado Cadillac. What does this code indicate? Sometimes I can erase the code and the check engine light will stay out

P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off, take a cheap OBD2 code scanner to erase the code, if the light come again, you need to take it to repair.

P0507 Higher idle speed than expected partially stuck open thermostat engine running colder than normal raises idle speed. Small vacuum leak raises idle speed. sticking throttle cable holding throttle plate open.
P0741 Torque Converter Clutch system stuck off : Code conditions : No engine or transaxle system codes set, engine run time over 5 seconds , Throttle Fluid pressure switch not indicating Park/Neutral,TCC commanded On @ max duty cycle, throttle angle over 8% Trans fluid Temp input 68-248f Degrees not in fuel cut off, trans gear ratio indicates 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear delivered torque 32-150 ft lbs, the PCM detected a TCC slip value that was over the torque limits . most likely cause is bad tcc solenoid or torque converter itself. Trans shop can diagnose and repair

yes they are all right, i suspect that this vehicle uses encrypted software for the gearbox computer and this is the reason for the different codes ,i never use a code reader as on europeon cars they just show cannot connect to vehicle ,i use a voltmeter and a dwell meter plus a frequency meter and a scope to diagnose problems .So i suspect

P0507....Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected

that this dealer doesnt have the correct diagnostic software because their code is a generic code as well as the first one ,A GM dealer code would have been P1507 and this code doesnt exist in the GM list of codes ,i think they are both right and need attention but the gearbox code is a fault with the front clutch operating mechanism ,i would advise ripping teh autobox out and fitting a manual gearbox ,lot less hassle

You will need to get the abs codes to diagnose what is causing the light to come on.Once the codes are obtained then weather it is a speed sensor or the wiring that is causing your problem.Post back with the codes and I can help you with the repair.Good luck.
