SOURCE: how do i change the oil pump on 98 chevy malibu

Are you sure it's the oil pump, Most of the time it's the oil sensor that has gone bad. Just trying to save you lot's of job since the oil pump is at the bottom of the engine in the oil pan. You can check by having the engine running and looking down the hole where the oil filler cap goes. Rev the engine up a bit and you should see oil splashing around which means your oil pump is working. Your oil pressure is created by the crank shaft. Good luck

SOURCE: What are the step by step instructions to change

Find the oil drain plug, remove, drain the oil into a pan, reinstall the drain plug a tighten, locate the oil filter and remove, check mounting surface to make sure the old gasket didn't stick. Coat the new filter gasket with oil and install hand tight. Refill the oil, make sure that you do not overfill. Start enigne for about a minute, shut off and double check the level, and that the filter and drain plug do not leak.
Some engines can be difficult, to identify the location of the drain plug and filter. There are thousands of configurations out there, If you are not familiar or can not locate the plug and filter, take the vehicle to a shop for service.

I have a gas leak on my 2007 malibu maxx i was told i need a fuel pump how is that possible

GM had a fuel pump module problem back in those years where the plastic broke , where the delivery hose hooked up to . This caused a substantial leak ,you can't really see the broke part till you drop the tank . I don't know if this was a problem on Malibu's ,I saw this on cobalt's . There was a Factory recall on some ! With a TSB - technical service bulletin ! I'd have a second opinion , call the dealer also .

take off the oil filler cap and neck, and remove that big plastic cover. Take off the Intake boot, and from there it is pretty straitforward. The labor guide calls for 1 hour to do the job

How to change the oil pressure sending unit for a 2007 Chevy malibu

I know this this is awful old, but seriously It was hard to find and now having replaced the Oil pressure sensor in my 2007 Malibu Maxx Hatchback (3.5 L Engine). I can assuredly tell you where it is.

It's right above the Oil Filter on the front bottom side of the engine. I accessed it from under the car. It's cramped, You'll find removing the starter motor useful. There is a heat shield over it, but I couldn't get to the nuts easily, but found I didn't need to remove the heat shield. The sensor took a 22mm deep socket (mine was 1/2" drive). to get it out, and back in.

It's number 1 in the figure below that was a screenshot from the Ebsco Automanual website - the only source that actually knew where thing thing was located. You can see the filter below and the starter motor.

How do you change the fuel sending unit on a Chevy Malibu? The unit is located, so I am told, on top of the fuel tank (not inside) where the fuel pump goes into fuel tank. Any idea how much would it cost...

The fuel "level" sending unit is located on the side of the fuel pump module, see red arrow on picture below. The fuel tank will need to be dropped and the fuel pump module removed in order to replace the fuel level sending unit. You can expect to pay a couple hours of labor to remove the tank and replace the level sending unit.

the fuel tank pressure sensor is located on top of the fuel pump module. The fuel tank will still need to be lowered to get at it but the fuel pump module does not need to be removed from the tank to replaced it.
