Engine dash warning lights (not when driving)

I have a VW Golf MK6 2.0 TDI - recently got warning "Engine fault - Go to workshop" when leaving motorway service station (I mention this because the car was heavy loaded with luggage and I drove over a speed bump moments after starting the car), turned off engine then on and no more warnings since then (and driving fine). When I turn key (before ignition) I get solid yellow engine symbol and yellow steering wheel but both go off when ignition starts and nothing comes on when driving. Is this a problem needing immediate service/repair?

Hi,
You will need "VAG diagnostic software" - (google it) on a laptop and a £15 VAGCOM interface cable if you want to do it yourself.
Cheers, D.

SOURCE: Service Due Warning on dash

The correct way to do this is to turn the car off...then hold the "reset" button down, while still holding, turn the ignition on and keep holding a few seconds till it goes off.

Exhaust pressure sensor a possibility if it has a DPF (diesel particulate filter). Has it had its fuel pump recall, the oil pressure light could be just the constant cranking and running the battery low.

Glow light flashes

Correct - the glow light flashing is an indication that there is fault. Often this is associated with a blown brake bulb or faulty brake switch.

Hi i had a similar problem with a peugeot 607 it turned out to be a faulty brake light switch that was sometimes not working and so confusing the asr system. It also left no fault code but did activate the asr warning lamp when it was faulty. try checking the brake light switch for an intermittent fault. Hope this helps
